The present invention relates to an asymmetric structure moisturizing mask pack comprising a polylactide. More specifically, the present invention relates to a porous membrane mask pack prepared from copolymers of polylactide and polyvinyl alcohol, wherein the skin contact surface of the mask pack is hydrophilic and the back surface thereof is hydrophobic.

Two-layer nanofiltration membranes

A two-layer membrane including a polymer layer and a support layer, the polymer layer being disposed on a surface of the support layer. The polymer layer, having a pore size of at most 50 nm and a thickness of 5 nm to 10 μm, is formed of an amphiphilic copolymer that contains both charged groups and hydrophobic groups. The support layer has a pore size of 3 nm to 10 μm, which is larger than the pore size of the polymer layer. Also disclosed is a process of filtering a liquid using the two-layer membrane described above.

Asymmetric Modified Carbon Molecular Sieve Hollow Fiber Membranes Having Improved Permeance

The present invention provides an asymmetric modified CMS hollow fiber membrane having improved gas separation performance properties and a process for preparing an asymmetric modified CMS hollow fiber membrane having improved gas separation performance properties. The process comprises treating a polymeric precursor fiber with a solution containing a modifying agent prior to pyrolysis. The concentration of the modifying agent in the solution may be selected in order to obtain an asymmetric modified CMS hollow fiber membrane having a desired combination of gas permeance and selectivity properties. The treated precursor fiber is then pyrolyzed to form an asymmetric modified CMS hollow fiber membrane having improved gas permeance.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR REMOVAL OF HYDROPHOBIC COMPONENTS FROM FLUID MIXTURES

Composite materials for removing hydrophobic components from a fluid include a porous matrix polymer, carbon nanotubes grafted to surfaces of the porous matrix polymer, and polystyrene chains grafted to the carbon nanotubes. Examples of porous matrix polymer include polyurethanes, polyethylenes, and polypropylenes. Membranes of the composite material may be enclosed within a fluid-permeable pouch to form a fluid treatment apparatus, such that by contacting the apparatus with a fluid mixture containing water and a hydrophobic component, the hydrophobic component absorbs selectively into the membrane. The apparatus may be removed from the fluid mixture and reused after the hydrophobic component is expelled from the membrane. The composite material may be prepared by grafting functionalized carbon nanotubes to a porous matrix polymer to form a polymer-nanotube composite, then polymerizing styrene onto the carbon nanotubes of the polymer-nanotube composite.

Hollow fibers for outside-in-dialysis applications

Disclosed are hollow fibers suitable for use in dialysis in an outside-in configuration. For such fibers, it is desirable that the fiber have a low albumin sieving coefficient and have a permeability high enough to be considered a High Flux dialyzer, and it is desirable that the outer (blood-facing) surface have a sufficiently small roughness and be hydrophilic. It is desirable that there be a selective layer on the outer surface and, interiorly of that, a porous structurally supportive region, which may contain elongated macrovoids. Such a fiber may be spun through a triple-concentric spinneret that produces a bore liquid surrounded by dope surrounded by a shower. The shower and the coagulation bath may be pure water, which is a non-solvent. The process may be performed at room temperature. Spinning parameters are discussed.

CHROMATOGRAPHY-FREE ANTIBODY PURIFICATION METHOD

The present invention relates method for purifying antibodies, said method comprising a limited number of steps while still allowing obtaining high yields of purified antibodies with an appropriate degree of purity. Briefly, this method comprises only filtration and precipitation steps, omitting the need for chromatography steps.

ENHANCED SORBENT MEMBRANE FOR CARBON DIOXIDE CAPTURE AND METHOD FOR SAME
20210370230 · 2021-12-02 ·

A method for enhancing a sorbent membrane for carbon dioxide capture is disclosed. The method includes applying a layer of a hydrophobic material to at least one surface of the sorbent membrane. The hydrophobic material may be one of a polysioxane, a silicone compound, and a fluoroacrylic copolymer. The sorbent membrane may be an anionic exchange membrane, and may have a quaternary ammonium functional group. The layer of hydrophobic material reduces the amount of water used in the carbon dioxide capture process, and relaxes the water quality constraints.
