A manual mixer serves to facilitate mixing and agitating materials for use during surgery. The manual mixer includes a mixing assembly and an actuation assembly for actuating the mixing assembly. The mixing assembly includes at least a paddle portion and a plunger portion. The plunger portion is simultaneously capable of rotational movement with the paddle portion and movement upwardly or downwardly along the paddle portion. Rotation of the paddle portion serves to facilitate mixing and agitating of the materials, and downward movement of the plunger portion serves to facilitate dispensing of the materials from the manual mixer.

A device for mixing and dispensing bone material is provided. The device comprises a tubular member having an interior surface configured to receive bone material and a fluid to mix the bone material disposed within the tubular member. The tubular member is flexible and has a proximal opening configured to slidably receive a plunger, and a distal opening configured to dispense a mixed bone material from the interior surface of the tubular member. The plunger is less flexible than the tubular member. Methods of mixing and dispensing bone material are also provided.

A mixer includes a mixer housing, a mixing element and a mixer inlet section having at least two inlets at an input side and at least two outlets at an output side. The outlets are in fluid communication with the mixing element. The inlets are sealingly connected to corresponding exit openings of a cartridge. The mixer housing includes a connection device for connecting the mixer to the cartridge by rotational movement around a longitudinal axis. An engagement element is disposed at an outer surface of the mixer housing which is accessible from the outside when the mixer is connected to the cartridge. The engagement element includes an engagement surface spaced apart from the upstream end of the mixer housing in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The engagement surface points in the direction of the upstream end of the mixer housing thereby forming an undercut.

A centrifuge having a housing containing a rotational mechanism and a centrifugal container having a longitudinal axis. The rotational mechanism has a circuit including an electrical motor, a switch, and an internal electrical power source. The centrifugal container is operably connected to the rotational mechanism through the housing, and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The centrifuge is portable and is for single use.

One aspect relates to a device for producing a bone cement paste from a monomer liquid and a cement powder and for delivering the bone cement paste, the device having a cartridge with a cylindrical interior, the interior of the cartridge being closed at the front side apart from a delivery opening for discharging the bone cement paste from the interior. A delivery plunger is arranged in the interior of the cartridge and mounted so as to be pushable in the direction of the delivery opening. The cement powder is arranged in the interior of the cartridge between the delivery opening and the delivery plunger. A closure closes the delivery opening and is mounted so as to be movable relative to the delivery opening. A line element is arranged at the front side of the delivery opening and includes a closure receptacle for receiving at least part of the closure. The closure is pushable into the closure receptacle by pressure on the bone cement paste such that the delivery opening is opened, when the closure has been pushed into the closure receptacle, the line element provides a free line cross-section through which the bone cement paste is pushable out through the delivery opening and out of the device.

One aspect relates to a device to produce a bone cement paste from a monomer liquid and a cement powder as starting components of the bone cement paste, and to dispense the mixed bone cement paste. The device includes a cartridge with a cylindrical interior, a dispensing plunger movable towards the front of the cartridge; a receptacle extending along a longitudinal direction, a front of the receptacle connected with the rear of the cartridge; a pumping plunger arranged and in the receptacle movable towards the front of the receptacle; a breakable ampoule containing the monomer liquid, the ampoule with ampoule body arranged in the receptacle between the pumping plunger and the dispensing plunger with at least some sections of the ampoule body in contact with the receptacle; and a spacer arranged in the receptacle between the dispensing plunger and the ampoule body, the spacer extending in the longitudinal direction of the receptacle and the spacer being separated from the inner wall of the receptacle by a distance at least as large as the wall thickness of the ampoule body.

A device for mixing and dispensing bone material is provided. One aspect relates to a bone cement applicator having a cartridge with an interior, a cartridge head with a delivery opening, a mixing member which is movable in the interior with a mixing rod. A delivery plunger is arranged in the cartridge and is mounted in the interior and is pressable in the direction of the delivery opening. The delivery plunger rests with an outer cylindrical circumferential surface against an inner wall of the cartridge. A clamping element is arranged on the inner wall of the cartridge in the region of a back side of the interior. The clamping element projects out of the inner wall of the cartridge. The cylindrical circumferential surface of the delivery plunger is resiliently deformable by the clamping element in the direction of a central cylinder axis, such that the delivery plunger is clampable in place with the at least one clamping element on the back side of the cartridge.

A system for bone cement includes a vial holder configured for receiving a vial and including a holding structure for maintaining the vial in the vial holder. The vial includes a monomer component for bone cement. A holder chamber is configured to receive and secure the vial holder. The vial holder is advanced toward a vial-breaking device for breaking the vial and releasing its contents into the holder chamber past the elastomeric seal. Once the vial holder is advanced further the elastomeric seal is deformed to form a seal and prevent fumes produced from escaping from the device.
