METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE DYNAMIC pH RANGE OF A BUFFER

The invention discloses a method for predicting the pH error during mixing of an aqueous buffer comprising at least one weak acid species and/or at least one weak base species, which comprises the steps of: a) selecting a start composition of the buffer, giving start values for pH and/or buffer concentration; b) calculating the concentrations of all ionic species present in the buffer at a specified pH value from the total composition of the buffer and available dissociation constants; c) calculating the contribution of each of said ionic species to a total pH variance from the specified pH value, the buffer concentration, the calculated concentrations of the ionic species and variances in amounts of buffer components; d) calculating the pH variance, and; e) setting the variance or the square root of the pH variance as the pH error.

System and method of using multi-chambered receptacles

A method of processing a sample in a receptacle comprising a plurality of chambers. Each of the chambers is connected to at least one other chamber by a portal and at least a first one of the chambers is formed of a flexible material. The method includes the steps of causing gas bubbles contained in the first chamber to accumulate in a portion of the first chamber, applying a compressive external force to the first chamber to cause some or all of the liquid contents of the first chamber to flow into an interconnected second chamber through a portal connecting the first and second chambers; and preventing the gas bubbles accumulated in a portion of the first chamber from flowing through the portal into the second chamber.

FLUID MIXING DEVICE

A fluid mixing device is provided with a plurality of flow channel units disposed to be divided in a plurality of layers. Each of the flow channel units has an inflow port, an outflow port, and a plurality of branch flow channels making the inflow port and the outflow port communicate with each other. The flow channel units located in different layers are connected to each other at the inflow port and the outflow port between the flow channel units, thereby configuring a three-dimensional flow channel as a whole. When the direction from the inflow port to the outflow path of each flow channel unit is set to be a flow direction in the flow channel unit, the flow directions intersect each other between the respective layers.

Mixing bag with integral sparger and sensor receiver

A mixing bag for use in bioprocessing in which a fluid is received and agitated using an internal fluid-agitating element driven by an external motive device is disclosed. The bag may include an integral sparger and sensor receiver. Related methods are also disclosed.

An apparatus for generating one or several droplets of a first liquid in a second liquid immiscible with the first liquid includes a rotational body and a drive apparatus. The rotational body includes a fluid chamber, a fluid channel and a transition area. The transition area includes a first expansion area and a second expansion area. The drive apparatus is configured to provide the rotational body with such a rotation that the first liquid is supplied centrifugally to the fluid chamber and that centrifugally hydrodynamically induced pressure and lifting forces are caused due to the second expansion area, which cause a droplet break-off in the first liquid, such that a droplet of the first liquid embedded in the second liquid is generated.

UNIT FOR GRINDING BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES
