An improved multifunctional workbench which comprises a desk element and one or more storage compartments, configured for housing documents, located under it. The desk element is made, at least partially, of a material presenting variable light transmission properties, such that it can selectively pass from a transparent configuration to an opaque configuration. Advantageously, the workbench allows to keep the desk, which is normally full of documents, clean, because makes visible the documents stored in the storage compartments below it selectively. Otherwise, it is possible to keep such documents hidden when necessary, for privacy reasons.

An equipped work unit for domestic use convertible between open and closed configurations has a support frame resting on a treadable surface, and an L-shaped wall having a first upper wall and a front wall and connected to the support frame.
