A seating system includes a base, and a seat mounted on the base and defining a seating surface. A backrest is configured for movement relative to the base and the seat between a first position and a second position by a backrest transfer arrangement having a movable pivot axis configuration. In the second position, the backrest defines a working surface spaced above and lying generally parallel to the seating surface.

A multipurpose furniture apparatus is configurable by a user between at least a first and second orientation to provide different functions. The multipurpose furniture apparatus includes first and second ground-engaging support members, an adjoining structure, and a seat structure. The adjoining structure and the seat structure extend between and laterally separate both the first and second ground-engaging support members. In the first orientation, the furniture apparatus is configurable as a chair. The first and second ground-engaging support members are configurable as arms of the chair and supporting the adjoining structure, which is configured as a back support. In the first orientation, the seat and the adjoining structure are configured to support a user in a seated position. In the second orientation, the adjoining structure is configured as a table top, and the first and second ground-engaging support members are configured to support the table top.

Furniture pieces are disclosed. A furniture piece includes a body, a non-flat base surface, a seat surface, a back protrusion, a pair of opposed side surfaces, and apertures. The non-flat base surface is positioned on a first side of the body, and the seat surface is positioned on a second side of the body opposite the first side. The back protrusion extends outward from the second side of the body adjacent the seat surface. The pair of opposed side surfaces are positioned on opposite sides of the body extending between the first and second sides. Apertures are defined in each of the side surfaces. Each aperture has an upper surface facing in a direction opposite the seat surface.

Furniture pieces are disclosed. A furniture piece includes a body, a non-flat base surface, a seat surface, a back protrusion, a pair of opposed side surfaces, and apertures. The non-flat base surface is positioned on a first side of the body, and the seat surface is positioned on a second side of the body opposite the first side. The back protrusion extends outward from the second side of the body adjacent the seat surface. The pair of opposed side surfaces are positioned on opposite sides of the body extending between the first and second sides. Apertures are defined in each of the side surfaces. Each aperture has an upper surface facing in a direction opposite the seat surface.

Systems and methods for moving a convertible bench between a first position, which presents a backrest, and a second position, which presents a tabletop, is described herein. While the described systems can include any suitable component, in some cases, they include a base having a first end piece that has a first set of legs with a first arched leg support that extends between the first set of legs and a second end piece having a second set of legs with a second arched leg support that extends between the second set of legs. The bench further includes a backrest/table portion that is hingedly coupled to the base so as to be pivotable from a first position that presents a backrest to a second position that presents a tabletop. Other implementations are described.

Systems and methods for moving a convertible bench between a first position, which presents a backrest, and a second position, which presents a tabletop, is described herein. While the described systems can include any suitable component, in some cases, they include a base having a first end piece that has a first set of legs with a first arched leg support that extends between the first set of legs and a second end piece having a second set of legs with a second arched leg support that extends between the second set of legs. The bench further includes a backrest/table portion that is hingedly coupled to the base so as to be pivotable from a first position that presents a backrest to a second position that presents a tabletop. A modular furniture system divides the sofa into modules that can be combined with a modular coffee table at will to achieve the desired furniture configuration. The sofa modules have foldable armrests and there are storage spaces under both the sofa modules and the modular coffee table. The modules can be put together using connectors to make a sofa bed. The modular coffee table can also be taken out separately to form a double sofa and coffee table, or the coffee table can be expanded to become an ottoman. Each of the sofa modules can be taken out separately and used as an armchair.
