Upgrading paraffins and olefins
In a process for upgrading paraffins and olefins, a first feed comprising C.sub.14 olefins is contacted with an oligomerization catalyst in a first reaction zone under conditions effective for oligomerization of olefins to higher molecular weight hydrocarbons. Deactivated catalyst is removed from the first reaction zone at a first temperature and is contacted with an oxygen-containing gas and a hydrocarbon-containing fuel in a regeneration zone to regenerate the catalyst and raise the temperature of the catalyst to a second, higher temperature. A second feed comprising C.sub.14 paraffins is contacted with the regenerated catalyst in a second reaction zone to convert at least some of the paraffins in the second feed to a reaction effluent comprising olefins, aromatic hydrocarbons and regenerated catalyst; and the reaction effluent is supplied to the first reaction zone. A system for performing such a process and a product of such a process are also provided.
System and method for producing carbon nanotubes
In the present invention, only low-growth carbon nanotubes are selectively separated among solid particles discharged during a reaction and then re-input to a reactor, so that it is possible to improve the quality of a carbon nanotube product to be produced and the productivity of a carbon nanotube production process.
GAS-LIQUID SEPARATION DEVICE FOR AN EBULLATED BED REACTOR
A gas-liquid separator, adapted for separating liquid and gas in an ebullated bed reactor under operating conditions, is disclosed. The device may be used in the petroleum and chemical processing industries in catalytic reactions of hydrocarbonaceous feedstocks in the presence of hydrogen, at an elevated temperature and pressure, to separate gas and liquid from gas and liquid mixtures within the reactor. The device is generally vertically oriented and may be installed in the flow through pan of an ebullated bed reactor. The device comprises a transfer conduit for transferring a gas-liquid mixture stream from a lower section of an ebullated bed reactor to an upper section of the reactor, a vortex separation section having gas-rich and liquid-rich stream outlets, and a gas-rich stream outlet conduit located on top of and adjacent to the vortex separation section. The transfer conduit includes internal means to produce a spiral flow in the gas-liquid mixture, such as a helical or spiral insert. The vortex separation section is located at the top of the transfer conduit and includes separation means to separate the gas-liquid mixture stream into a liquid-rich stream and a gas-rich stream. A separator conduit extending from the top of the vortex separation section to the transfer conduit upper opening, aligned with and having substantially the same cross-sectional dimensions as the gas-rich stream outlet, may be used as the separation means. Among the benefits provided are improved efficiency of gas and liquid separation and reduced gas holdup within the reactor.
GENERATING HYDROGEN AS FUEL FOR ENGINES AND/OR TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY FOR OILFIELD APPLICATIONS
A system includes a reactor configured for catalytic water splitting to produce hydrogen and byproduct solids via contact of water and aluminum in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal, a metal hydroxide, a metal oxide, or a combination thereof, wherein the reactor comprises one or more inlets whereby water, aluminum, the catalyst, or a combination thereof are introduced to a reaction chamber of the reactor, an outlet for hydrogen, and an outlet for a slurry comprising water, catalyst, and solids comprising aluminum oxide, aluminum hydroxide, or a combination thereof, a solid/liquid separation apparatus configured to separate the solids from the slurry to provide a solids-reduced slurry, and oilfield equipment. The oilfield equipment is operable via the hydrogen as fuel and/or via electricity produced from the hydrogen.
Gas-liquid-solid three-phase slurry bed industrial reactor capable of achieving continuous operation
A gas-liquid-solid three-phase slurry bed industrial reactor capable of achieving continuous operation comprises an inlet gas distribution component composed of a false bottom and inlet gas distribution tubes, one or more layers of heat exchange tube components used for heating/cooling the bed, one or more layers of liquid-solid separator components capable of being cleaned automatically, an outlet gas-liquid-solid entrainment separation component located in the upper portion of the interior of the reactor and used for removing liquid foam and solid entrainments, a plurality of layers of solid concentration uniform distribution devices used for reducing the catalyst concentration gradient and the inlet-outlet temperature difference of the reactor, a flow guiding device located on a component support beam and used for preventing catalyst accumulation, and auxiliary systems including a filter-backflush system and a washing system. Compared with the prior art, the reactor is low in energy consumption and solves the problems of blockage, backflow and dead zones, the temperature and liquid level are well controlled, catalysts can be easily added and discharged online, and stable and continuous operation of the reactor is achieved. The reactor is suitable for being applied to the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process on an industrial scale.
