Nanowires useful as heterogeneous catalysts are provided. The nanowire catalysts are prepared by polymer templated methods and are useful in a variety of catalytic reactions, for example, the oxidative coupling of methane to ethane and/or ethylene. Related methods for use and manufacture of the same are also disclosed.

THREE-WAY CATALYST

The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a carrier substrate of the length L extending between substrate ends a and b and three washcoat zones A, B and C wherein washcoat zone A comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end a over a part of the length L, washcoat zone C comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end b over a part of the length L, and washcoat zone B comprises the same components as washcoat zone A and in addition, one or more second platinum group metals and extends between washcoat zones A and C, wherein L=L.sub.A+L.sub.B+L.sub.C, wherein L.sub.A is the length of washcoat zone A, L.sub.B is the length of substrate length B and L.sub.C is the length of substrate length C.

THREE-WAY CATALYST

The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a carrier substrate of the length L extending between substrate ends a and b and three washcoat zones A, B and C wherein washcoat zone A comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end a over a part of the length L, washcoat zone C comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end b over a part of the length L, and washcoat zone B comprises the same components as washcoat zone A and in addition, one or more second platinum group metals and extends between washcoat zones A and C, wherein L=L.sub.A+L.sub.B+L.sub.C, wherein L.sub.A is the length of washcoat zone A, L.sub.B is the length of substrate length B and L.sub.C is the length of substrate length C.

The present invention relates, at least in part, to a process for making chlorotrifluoroethylene (CFO-1113) from 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethane (HCFC-123a). In certain aspects, the process includes dehydrochlorinating 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethane (HCFC-123a) in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of (i) one or more metal halides; (ii) one or more halogenated metal oxides; (iii) one or more zero-valent metals or metal alloys; (iv) combinations thereof.

PROCESS FOR METHANOL SYNTHESIS USING AN INDIUM OXIDE BASED CATALYST

The invention relates to a process for methanol synthesis comprising the steps of providing a syngas feed stream comprising hydrogen and a mixture of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, wherein carbon dioxide represents from 1 to 50 mol % of the total molar content of the feed stream, carbon monoxide is contained from 0.1 to 85 mol % of the total molar content, and H.sub.2 is comprised from 5 to 95 mol % of the total molar content of the feed stream; providing an indium oxide catalyst selected from a bulk catalyst and a supported catalyst comprising indium oxide (In.sub.2O.sub.3) as the main active phase; putting in contact said stream with said catalyst at a reaction temperature of at least 373 K (99.85 C.) and under a pressure ranging of at least 1 MPa; and recovering the methanol effluents. The invention also relates to an indium oxide based catalyst.
