SYNTHESIS OF PLASMA GENERATING - CHEMICAL LOOPING CATALYSTS
20230064758 · 2023-03-02 ·

Disclosed is the synthesis of novel supported metal catalytic materials for electromagnetic radiation absorption and chemical catalysis especially in the presence of plasma used in the conversion of nitrogen from air and hydrogen from water to useful products such as nitric acid, hydrogen, ammonia and fertilizers. These materials can also generate plasma when subjected to microwave irradiation thus form the basis of catalytic plasma reactors. They can be used in chemical looping reactions because plasma generation under microwave irradiation in air results in the reduction of catalyst oxides and oxidation of nitrogen.

A catalytic system for CO.sub.2 capture and sequestration. The system includes a reduction cell for separating a carrier medium having an anode generating oxygen, a cathode generating hydrogen, and a CO precursor from the carrier medium. In addition, the system includes a power supply for providing electrical power to the anode and the cathode. An electrolysis process occurs where oxygen, hydrogen, CO precursors are produced. The anode and the cathode include a plurality of geometrical constructs to increase an active surface area of a catalytic surface of the anode and cathode to increase an efficiency of the electrolysis process. The geometrical constructs may include vias and pillars. In one embodiment, a capillary action is produced for CO.sub.2 sequestration across the catalytic surface having a plurality of vias.

Process and catalyst for low temperature non-oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propylene

A process and catalyst are provided for the non-oxidative dehydrogenation of propane for the production of propylene as petrochemical building blocks. The process provides a direct single-step gas-phase dehydration of propane mixed with nitrogen in the presence and absence of steam/hydrogen over supported bimetallic alumina-silicates zeolites. The catalyst contains no precious metal entities and may contain one metal from group VIB in combination with another metal from group IIIA or IVA supported on FAU, MFI, KFI, BEA type alumina-silicates zeolites. The process provides a propane conversion of 18% to 52% with a propylene yield of 10% to 25%.
