METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECOVERY OF RADIOACTIVE NUCLIDES FROM SPENT RESIN MATERIALS
20180308597 · 2018-10-25 ·

A process for the recovery of a radioisotope from a waste resin of a nuclear power plant comprises the steps of: a) treating a waste resin loaded with at least one radioisotope with an organic acid or alkaline compound to release the at least one radioisotope and to obtain a process solution containing the at least one radioisotope; b) separating the at least one radioisotope from the process solution through a reaction specific to the radioisotope so as to obtain a treated process solution depleted of the at least one radioisotope, wherein said depleted process solution comprises the organic acid or alkaline compound and optionally a non-reacted radioisotope; c) reacting the organic acid or alkaline compound in the depleted process solution from step b) by thermal and/or photochemical oxidation to form gaseous reaction products; and d) reloading the waste resin with the reacted process solution from step c) to bind the non-reacted radioisotope on the waste resin. Further, an apparatus is provided to carry out the above method.

ONSHORE LITHIUM-RECOVERING APPARATUS FOR LITHIUM ION ADSORPTION AND DESORPTION PROCESS AND LITHIUM-RECOVERING METHOD USING THE SAME

The present disclosure relates to an onshore lithium-recovering device for a lithium ion adsorption and desorption process including a supply unit for supplying lithium-containing water in which lithium is dissolved, a composite unit, a washing unit, a desorbing liquid unit, an extract liquid unit, a pressure adjusting unit, a discharge unit, and a control unit. Therefore, the lithium adsorption means is moved onshore so it is possible to significantly reduce the plant installation cost and the operating cost as compared to the lithium recovery process that operates the conventional offshore plant.

Ion exchanging apparatus

The present invention aims at limiting the pressure loss and smoothly discharging water treated by ion exchangers to the outside of the apparatus. Ion exchanging apparatus 1 has outer vessel 3 that has inner space 2; and ion exchanger support 4 that separates at least a part of inner space 2 into upper space 2a and lower space 2b and that can support ion exchangers to be loaded in upper space 2a. At least a part of an upper surface of the ion exchanger support is made from at least one screen which supports the ion exchangers and which has a flow path allowing water treated by the ion exchangers to flow into the lower space 2b.

System and process for removing ammonium, soluble BOD and suspended solids from a wastewater stream

A method of treating wastewater includes removing BOD and ammonium from the wastewater. The wastewater is directed into a tank where it is mixed with mixed liquor or activated sludge from an activated sludge wastewater treatment system. The mixture of wastewater and mixed liquor or activated sludge forms a mixed liquor stream. The mixed liquor stream is directed to a ballasted flocculation system where suspended solids is removed from the wastewater. This produces a clarified effluent that is directed to a zeolite tank. Clarified wastewater from the ballasted flocculation system is directed into the zeolite tank and mixed with zeolite. Zeolite is effective to remove ammonium from the wastewater. Thus, the process as a whole is effective in removing suspended solids, soluble BOD as a result of mixing the mixed liquor or activated sludge with the wastewater, and ammonium.

System and method for regenerating and restoring kinetic properties of resin

A system and method configured to restore ion exchange kinetic properties and purify resin is described. Degraded ion exchange kinetic properties of anion resin will eventually result in impurity slippage through resin charges. This system and method employs an acid catalyst in combination with sulfite cleaning solution to remove organic material and to protonate iron oxides for deconstruction and removal from anion resins. The cleaning solution, when applied via a cleaning vessel utilizing an eductor(s)/plenum and wedge-wire screen draw chamber, while controlling all phases of cleaning by electronic monitoring, yields complete restoration of ion exchange kinetics on usable resin. As such, the system and method provides a safe, effective, and vastly improved method for restoring anion resin kinetics and improving regeneration quality, for improved resin performance and minimizing resin replacement costs.

A system and method for providing mobile or temporary water treatment involving ion exchange resins includes a service center, one or more treatment vehicles, a resin transfer hub and one or more resin transport vehicles. The service center can be used to regenerate one or more types of ion exchange resins. The treatment vehicle carries water treatment equipment including a tank holding ion exchange resin. The resin transfer hub facilitates moving resin between a treatment vehicle and a resin transport vehicle. The resin transport vehicle is adapted for carrying resin by one or more of land, sea and air between the resin forwarding center and the service center. In operation, a treatment vehicle brings resin requiring regeneration to the resin transfer hub, where it is emptied and then re-filled with regenerated resin. Resin requiring regeneration is transferred to a resin transport vehicle for transport to the service center. The resin transport vehicle is re-filled there with regenerated resin, which is taken back to the resin transfer hub for transferred to a treatment vehicle.
