GLIDE ASSEMBLY SYSTEM

The present invention relates to a glide assembly to connect adjacent furniture legs on items such as, for example, chairs or tables. For example, chairs can have a glide assembly attached at the bottom of each of its front legs or to all of its legs, or a table can have a glide attached to some or all of its legs. Each glide may have a magnet that, when mated with adjacent glide's magnet, connects the chair legs and/or table legs together, without requiring tools or mechanical fasteners to connect or disconnect. The magnets used to connect the chairs and tables together allows one to easily attach or detach chairs and/or tables. Use of male/female glide assemblies increases the resistance to accidental disconnection.

The peripheral edge portion extends away from the floor engaging surface portion such that the peripheral edge portion does not contact an associated supporting surface when the floor engaging surface portion is in contact with the associated supporting surface, whereby the peripheral edge portion has a relatively more durable surface as compared to the floor engaging surface portion.

To attain a better position of the device in response to movement, it is proposed that, starting at the impact surface, the soft part (25) is to also be embodied without a weight-loading by the appendage (9), also laterally to the appendage (9) on the top.

The furniture glide includes an interior volume having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a cavity for receiving the furniture leg. A sidewall of the cavity may be arced so as to precisely conform to a furniture leg. Matted material is molded into the outer surface of the cup. As a result, the furniture glide may fit snugly and securely without shearing off, though it may still be removable, and the furniture glide may avoid the requirement of adhesives, though adhesives could optionally be used.
