EXPANDABLE CENTER ARRANGEMENT
An expandable center arrangement for a reactor is disclosed. The arrangement comprises an expansion tube; a center support inside the expansion tube and three or more spring elements. The spring elements are fastened to the center support and arc out to the expansion tube. A reactor is also disclosed.
Liquid fuel CPOX reformer and fuel cell systems, and methods of producing electricity
Integrated liquid fuel catalytic partial oxidation (CPOX) reformer and fuel cell systems can include a plurality or an array of spaced-apart CPOX reactor units, each reactor unit including an elongated tube having a gas-permeable wall with internal and external surfaces. The wall encloses an unobstructed gaseous flow passageway. At least a portion of the wall has CPOX catalyst disposed therein and/or comprising its structure. The catalyst-containing wall structure and open gaseous flow passageway enclosed thereby define a gaseous phase CPOX reaction zone, the catalyst-containing wall section being gas-permeable to allow gaseous CPOX reaction mixture to diffuse therein and hydrogen rich product reformate to diffuse therefrom. The liquid fuel CPOX reformer also can include a vaporizer, one or more igniters, and a source of liquid reformable fuel. The hydrogen-rich reformate can be converted to electricity within a fuel cell unit integrated with the CPOX reactor unit.
Ethylene-to-liquids systems and methods
Integrated systems are provided for the production of higher hydrocarbon compositions, for example liquid hydrocarbon compositions, from methane using an oxidative coupling of methane system to convert methane to ethylene, followed by conversion of ethylene to selectable higher hydrocarbon products. Integrated systems and processes are provided that process methane through to these higher hydrocarbon products.
Carbon capture
The present invention relates to the use of solid metal materials for catalyzing the hydration of carbon dioxide. It also relates to methods of and apparatus for hydrating carbon dioxide and capturing carbon. The solid metal materials may be nickel nanoparticles. The invention finds particular application in the sequestration of carbon dioxide either at the point of release or from the atmosphere.
Process for improving the operations of a polymerisation plant
Petrochemical complex containing an olefin monomer polymerization plant having at least one polymerization reactor and an optional degassing section. The polymerization reactor contains process hydrocarbons consisting of the monomer, the optional comonomer(s) and optionally at least one inert hydrocarbon diluent, together with aluminum containing compound(s). The polymerization plant includes liquid purge stream(s) which contain aluminum containing compounds and optionally polymer fines, together with accumulated hydrocarbons which are different from the process hydrocarbons and which are hydrocarbons containing at least 4 carbon atoms. The petrochemical complex also contains a multipurpose hydrocarbon treatment unit which separates the liquid purge stream(s) into one stream having substantially all of the aluminum containing compounds and optional polymer fines, and one stream containing the accumulated hydrocarbons. The petrochemical complex also contains an upgrading unit for the treatment of the accumulated hydrocarbons which also produces the fresh monomer and/or comonomer for the polymerization reaction.
Methanol plant and gasoline synthesis plant
Provided is a methanol plant that can obtain fresh water from sea water by using, in a seawater desalination device, the exhaust heat discharged in a step for producing methanol from natural gas. The methanol plant is provided with: a heat exchanger (4) that recovers into a thermal medium (for example, seawater) the exhaust heat discharged from a step for producing methanol from a feed stock (for example, natural gas); and a seawater desalinization device (6) that obtains freshwater from seawater using the exhaust heat recovered by means of the thermal medium.
Methods and systems for processing cellulosic biomass
Digestion of cellulosic biomass solids may be complicated by release of lignin therefrom. Methods and systems for processing a reaction product containing lignin-derived products, such as phenolics, can comprise hydrotreating the reaction product to convert the lignin-derived products to desired higher molecular weight compounds. The methods can further include separating the higher molecular weight compounds from unconverted products, such as unconverted phenolics, and recycling the unconverted phenolics for use as at least a portion of the digestion solvent and for further conversion to desired higher molecular weight compounds with additional hydrotreatment.
Industrial Production Plant Having Minimal Emission of Greenhouse Gases, in Particular Emission of Carbon Dioxide, and Method for the Operation Thereof
The invention relates to an industrial production plant (1), which comprises a first production plant (2), which produces a CO.sub.2-poor and H.sub.2-rich exhaust gas from a carbon-containing feed material and which has an associated first exhaust-gas cleaning device (3) and an associated second exhaust-gas cleaning device (14). The problem addressed by the invention is that of creating a solution by means of which a carbon capture and utilization method can be effectively and efficiently performed. This problem is solved in that the industrial production plant (1) also comprises a gas-processing plant (4), which divides the exhaust gas into a carbon-containing, at least substantially H.sub.2-free partial gas flow (6) and a carbon-free, H.sub.2-rich partial gas flow (7); comprises an apparatus (19) for producing a CO.sub.2-rich gas flow, to which apparatus at least a part of a CO.sub.2-containing exhaust-gas flow (17) arising in a firing apparatus (11) can be fed after flowing through the second exhaust-gas cleaning device (14); and comprises a water electrolysis plant (24), which produces hydrogen (H.sub.2) and oxygen (02), and a second production plant (20), which produces methanol and/or secondary methanol products and which has a CO.sub.2 line connection (21) to the apparatus (19) on one side and an H.sub.2 line connection (23) to the gas-processing plant (4) and the water electrolysis plant (24) on the other side.
