HYDROCARBON-IN-WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM
A hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage having a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material and an inlet configured to receive a hydrocarbon-in-water dispersion from a fuel system. A polishing hydrocarbon absorber stage is in liquid communication and downstream of the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage including polishing activated carbon. The high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material has a greater saturation capacity than the polishing activated carbon and the polishing activated carbon has a greater polishing capacity than the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material. A method for controlling and managing the evacuation of water from the hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes tracking the purification state of water volumes and the bed loading states of purification beds defined in the water filter.
Solid-phase extraction material, and preparation method and use thereof
The present invention relates to the field of solid-phase extraction, and particularly to a solid-phase extraction material, and a preparation method and use thereof. The preparation method includes prepolymerizing the monomers N-vinylpyrrolidone and divinylbenzene in the presence of a chain transfer agent, adding prepolymer dropwise to an emulsion of monodispersed seed microspheres, swelling, and reacting to prepare white spheres; and functionalizing the white spheres, to obtain the solid-phase extraction material. The solid-phase extraction material prepared by the reaction has good spherical morphology, large specific surface area, and high ion exchange capacity. The prepared solid-phase extraction material functions in the separation and enrichment of PPCPs by means of a variety of forces with a high extraction rate. The extraction rate is basically maintained between 85% and 105%, and acidic, alkaline, neutral and amphoteric substances is capable of being selectively separated.
Sorbent compositions for the removal of boron from aqueous mediums
Sorbent compositions that include a base sorbent material having a high porosity and surface area and a boron-selective agent are particularly useful for the sequestration of boron from waste materials such as coal combustion residual leachate (CCRs). By using a boron-selective agent in conjunction with a high surface area base sorbent material such as activated carbon or biochar, a sorbent composition with a high capacity for sequestering boron at relatively low cost is provided.
AERODYNAMIC SPACERS
A spacer array including a plurality of spacers. Each spacer defines a longitudinal axis and includes a main body, a leading pin, and a trailing pin. The main body has a main body cross-sectional dimension. The leading pin extends from the main body and is upstream of the main body. The leading pin has a leading pin cross-sectional dimension. The trailing pin extends from the main body and is downstream of the main body. The trailing pin has a trailing pin cross-sectional dimension. The main body cross-sectional dimension is greater than the leading pin cross-sectional dimension and the trailing pin cross-sectional dimension.
Moisture swing CO.SUB.2 .sorbents with enhanced capacity and kinetics
A composition of matter having a porous cross-linked polymer network, quaternary ammonium ions in the cross-linked polymer network, and at least one counter ion in the cross-linked polymer network that is at least one of hydroxide or a counter ion capable of forming hydroxide upon reaction with water. A method to produce a porous material includes polymerizing a compound containing quaternary ammonium and a cross-linker using controlled polymerization and ion exchange in the presence of at least one of hydroxide or a counter ion capable of forming hydroxide upon reaction with water. A method to capture CO.sub.2, includes employing a sorbent comprising a quaternary ammonium ions in a porous cross-linked polymer network in an environment to adsorb CO.sub.2.
Super Absorbent Polymer Composition and Preparation Method Thereof
The super absorbent polymer composition and the preparation method thereof according to the present disclosure are characterized by having excellent deodorizing ability while minimizing deterioration in physical properties of the super absorbent polymer by mixing persimmon extract, glycine, and a chelating agent into the super absorbent polymer after controlling their combination and mixing ratio, as compared to a composition not utilizing the present disclosure.
Adsorption heat pump
A process for producing spherical activated carbon is complex; therefore, an adsorbent that has an effective adsorption amount larger than or equal to that of spherical activated carbon and that is easily produced is desired. An adsorption heat pump uses, as refrigerant, carbon dioxide and uses, as an adsorbent, a metal-organic framework including a metal ion and an organic ligand. The metal-organic framework is, for example, MOF-200.
Polymer Material
The present application relates to a polymer material and a use thereof. The present application can provide a polymer material having both excellent biodegradability and absorptivity by using a polysaccharide component capable of efficient cross-linking while using no cross-linking agent that can adversely affect biodegradability, or using the relevant component to the minimum. The present application can also provide a use of the polymer material.
