APPARATUS TO FACILITATE TRANSFER OF BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS STORED AT CRYOGENIC CONDITIONS
A system and method facilitates transfers of specimen containers (e.g., vials with caps) between storage cassettes and carrier cassettes. The storage cassettes are designed to be stored in cryogenic refrigerators while the carrier cassettes are designed to be temporarily stored in a portable carrier. Identification information is read from wireless transponders carried by the specimen containers. Visual mappings of the positions of the specimen container in the cassettes is provided. Presence and position of the specimen containers in the cassettes is verified, and alerts of inconsistencies provided along with corrective commands. Inventories of specimen container and even specific specimen holders are provided.
Apparatus to preserve and identify biological samples at cryogenic conditions
A container includes a vial, cap, and one or more wireless transponders secured to the cap, the vial or a jacket to store and identify samples of biological material at cryogenic temperatures (e.g., vitrified biological samples), for instance held by cryopreservation storage devices. A specimen holder may be extend from the cap. The vial and/or cap includes ports or vents. A carrier includes a box, thermal shunt, thermal insulation to store and identify arrays of containers that hold cryopreservation storage devices with samples of biological material at cryogenic temperatures. Various apparatus include wireless transponders positioned and oriented to enhance range, and allow interrogation while retained in a carrier. Various apparatus can maintain the biological material at or close to cryogenic temperatures for prolonged period of times after being removed from a cryogenic cooler, and can allow wireless inventorying while maintaining the biological samples at suitably cold temperatures.
FLUIDIC DEVICES WITH FREEZE-THAW VALVES WITH ICE-NUCLEATING AGENTS AND RELATED METHODS OF OPERATION AND ANALYSIS
Embodiments of the invention provide fluidic devices such as, but not limited to, microfluidic chips, with one or more freeze thaw valves (FTVs) employing one or more ice-nucleating agents (INAs), that can reliably operate to freeze at relatively higher temperatures and/or at faster rates than conventional microfluidic devices with FTV systems.
Inverted wick type temperature control system
A sample vessel assembly to carry out a sorption analysis in a container provided with a cooling liquid. The sample vessel assembly includes a sample vessel configured to be suspended within the container. The sample vessel has a sample holding region at a sample end of the vessel to hold a sample to be analyzed. A wick is disposed on the sample vessel and surrounds the sample holding region. The wick extends from the sample holding region to project toward a bottom of the container and draw the cooling liquid over the sample holding region when the sample vessel is disposed in an analysis position in the container.
Cryogenic storage and freezing beaker
The present invention is directed to providing a cryogenic storage device and system that can be regulated at a constant temperature for cryopreservation of biological materials. A cryogenic storage system for cryopreservation of biological materials is provided that may include a storage beaker having at least one storage chamber formed therein, a cooling source, and a cold finger that may be configured to thermally couple the storage beaker to the cooling source.
Thermal Connection Assemblies and Methods
Cryogenic analysis systems are provided that can include: a cryogenic fluid source component; an analysis component; and a thermal connection assembly operably engaged with both the cryogenic fluid source component and the analysis component to provide disengagement or engagement of the cryogenic fluid source component to/from the analysis component while maintaining the cooling status of the cryogenic fluid source component. Methods for performing sample analysis under cryogenic conditions are provided, the methods comprising: providing an analysis component; providing a cryogenic fluid source component having cryogenic fluid in a cold state; operably engaging the analysis component and the cryogenic fluid source component; preparing a sample for analysis within the analysis component; and while maintaining the cryogenic fluid in the cold state, disengaging the cryogenic fluid source component from the analysis component.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CRYOSTORAGE AND MANIPULATION OF A PLURALITY OF CONTAINER UNITS
An apparatus for cryostorage and manipulation of a plurality of container units includes a cryochamber having a cryo-access port. The cryochamber is electrically cooled at cryogenic temperatures. A unit holder is located inside the cryochamber and is configured to hold a plurality of container units. A user access area is provided for selectively permitting access to a chosen container unit by an authenticated user who has been authenticated by the apparatus. A motive grasper is provided for selectively removing the chosen container unit from the cryochamber through the cryo-access port, and selectively placing the chosen container unit into the user access area.
Method and apparatus for cell dispensing and storage
Provided are a cell dispensing and storing apparatus and a method of the same. The method includes: moving a freezing container with a test tube in it and a temporary storage bottle containing sample cells into a dispensing area. Connect the temporary storage bottle with an injecting assembly. A dispensing clamp moves the test tube from the freezing container to a tube rack on a rotating platform. A rotating clamp removes a tube cover from the test tube. An injecting nozzle extracts the sample cells from the temporary storage bottle and dispenses the sample cells into the test tube. The rotating clamp puts the tube cover back on the test tube. The dispensing clamp moves the test tube back into the freezing container. A freezing clamp moves the freezing container into a freezer.
Method and Kit for Preservation of Adipose Tissue Grafts
Methods, devices, and kits are provided for use in washing or cryopreserving live cells or tissue, such as fat graft tissue.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
A sealed container having gloves attached thereto is provided as part of a physical properties measuring system (PPMS). The PPMS includes a sealed pressurized portion that is pressurized with a gas to purge out air from inside the sealed pressurized portion to reduce water vapor inside the sealed pressurized portion below a water vapor threshold. The system further includes a cryogenic tank having a cryostat disposed therein. The cryogenic tank contains a cryogenic liquid cooled to a cryogenic temperature. Test samples are placed inside the sealed pressurized portion in preparation of measuring physical properties of the test samples. One of the test samples is immersed in the cryogenic liquid to measure the physical properties. The test sample is removed from the cryogenic liquid and is exchanged for another test sample inside the sealed pressurized portion to prevent ice formation inside the cryostat.
