Method and apparatus for separating interlocked cap and receptacle
An apparatus for separating an interlocked cap and receptacle comprises a top wall and a cap removal station. The cap removal station comprises an opening, a raised collar for engaging and releasing interlocking elements of the cap and receptacle, and tabs on a side of the top wall opposite the raised collar for retaining the receptacle within the opening when the cap is separated from the receptacle. A method for separating an interlocked cap and receptacle comprises moving the cap and receptacle in a first direction into a cap removal station, contacting interlocking elements of the cap and receptacle with a raised collar to thereby release the interlocking elements, retaining the receptacle within the cap removal station; and with the interlocking elements released and the receptacle retained within the cap removal station, moving the cap in a second direction opposite the first direction to separate the cap from the receptacle.
Isolation tube with a rheological control member and a plunger
A separation container for extracting a portion of a sample for use or testing and method for preparing samples for downstream use or testing are provided. The separation container may include a body defining an internal chamber. The body may define an opening, and the body may be configured to receive the sample within the internal chamber. The separation container may further include a seal disposed across the opening, such that the seal may be configured to seal the opening of the body, and a plunger movably disposed at least partially inside the internal chamber. The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.
Benchtop incubator including multiple temperature monitors
A bench top incubator is described. The bench top incubator includes a multiple temperature sensors and control systems so as to provide independent data logs of temperature data from each of the multiple temperature sensors. The incubator is relatively simple and small in design and can be conveniently located to carry out temperature processing of biological samples such as fixed cells and tissues, biological fluids, and so forth. The incubator can also include multiple tray stacks, each tray stack configured to retain either microscope slides or well plates
Automated method for direct sampling of immune cells from whole blood or other biological samples in microwell plates
A method for automatic sampling of immune cells from a biological fluid sample, e.g., whole blood, deposited in a well of a microwell plate. The sample contains red blood cells (RBCs) and magnetic beads which are designed to bind to the RBCs. The microwell plate is placed on a shaker having a magnetic adapter including at least one magnet. The magnet causes the RBCs bound to the magnetic beads to be attracted to and migrate to a wall of the well (e.g., the bottom or side wall) and be held against the wall. The shaker is then operated to shake the microwell plate in a manner and for a time period so as to suspend substantially evenly or homogeneously the immune cells in the biological fluid sample within a region of the well but still retain the holding of the RBCs to the wall of the well such that the immune cells are substantially isolated from the RBCs in the region of the well. During or after shaking, a sample probe is then lowered into the region of the well to withdraw a portion of the sample containing the immune cells.
PIPETTING DEVICE
A pipetting device (1) for receiving and dispensing fluid volumes, comprising a housing (2) with a holding portion (3), which is constructed for holding the pipetting device (1) by means of an operator's hand, a support device (4), which is designed for supporting the pipetting device (1) on an operator's finger, the support device (4) being rotatable relative to the holding portion (3), preferably about a longitudinal axis (L) of the pipetting device (1). The invention further relates to a pipetting device (1) for receiving and dispensing fluid volumes, comprising a releasable positive connection between a first and a second component of the pipetting device (1). Because the support device is adjustable relative to the holding device into a plurality of different defined rotational positions the pipetting device can be used by either left-handed and right-handed operators or by operators with hands of different sizes.
SUPPORT FIXTURE FOR CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMNS
A support fixture for chromatography columns operated by a liquid handling robot includes a frame and a lid. The frame has a base and a column stand extending upward from the base. The frame also includes bores extending vertically between the base and an upper portion of the column stand. The lid is movably attached to the upper portion of the column stand and has openings that axially align with the bores in the frame. The lid is movable between an open position configured to allow insertion of chromatography columns into the bores and a closed position configured to secure the chromatography columns in the bores.
Pipetting device, pipette tip coupler, and pipette tip: devices and methods
Pipette tip coupler and a disposable pipette tip for a pipette device comprises a stepped coupler shoulder complementary to an axially stepped pipette tip shoulder; a plurality of circumferentially disposed elements or segments carried by the coupler at a location superior to the coupler shoulder; and a distal elastomeric element carried by the coupler at a location distal to the coupler shoulder wherein the plurality of elements or segments have a circumferential, radially translated state that provides an abutment with a first working surface formed in the interior surface of the tip while compressing the distal elastomeric element into sealing abutment with a second working surface formed in the interior surface of the tip and while abutting the proximally facing axial stop surface of the tip with the distally facing axial stop surface of the coupler to define an axial coupling position of the pipette tip on the pipette device.

Pipetting device, pipette tip coupler, and pipette tip: devices and methods
Pipette tip couplers, pipette tips, coupler and tip combinations, and methods for coupling and decoupling a pipette tip to or from, respectively, a pipette tip coupler mounted on a pipette device. The pipette tip couplers include an elastomeric element, an annular crown shaped raceway, and a coupler stop shoulder surface. The pipette tips include a groove in a first cylindrical section, a second cylindrical section, a tip stop shoulder surface at the interface of the first and second cylindrical sections, a third cylindrical section, a sealing seat surface at the interface of the second and third cylindrical sections, and a fourth section adjacent to the third cylindrical section. When the pipette tip is mounted on the pipette tip coupler, the annular crown shaped raceway abuts the tip groove, the coupler stop shoulder surface abuts the tip stop shoulder surface, and the elastomeric element abuts the sealing seat surface.
