An impact barrier for a storage rack support structure includes an arcuate outer wall having opposed first and second ends, the first and second ends being spaced apart to form a gap therebetween. The impact barrier further includes a first deflection element, a second deflection element, and a third deflection element, wherein the third deflection element is positioned between the first and second deflection elements. The first deflection element extends from the first end to a first medial position on the outer wall between the first end and the third deflection element, and the second deflection element extends from the second end to a second medial position on the outer wall between the second end and the third deflection element. Upon impact, the first, second and third deflection elements deform to dissipate the energy generated by the impact.

A surface including a notch. The notch is defined by first and second surfaces, wherein the second surface extends at a non-zero angle with respect to the first surface. The surface includes a metal edge inserted entirely into a volume of space defined by the first and second surfaces and attached to the surface. The metal edge includes a first piece having a male connector. The metal edge further includes a second piece that includes a female connector that interconnects with the male connector, wherein when the male connector engages the female connector the second piece extends lengthwise along a direction at which the first piece extends. The metal edge further includes a front surface that faces away from the second surface and a rear surface that faces the second surface and covers a portion of the second surface.

An edge trim for pieces of furniture, including a meltable layer, is described. The molecular structure of the meltable layer contains both polar and non-polar parts. By way of a non-limiting example, an edge trim for pieces of furniture having an exposed edge of wooden or wood substitute material is described, comprising a molten layer and a structural layer, wherein the structural layer and the molten layer are connected in an adhesive bond, wherein the molten layer is made of a material that is chemically modified such that polar and non-polar components are found in a single molecular structure, wherein the molten layer contains energy absorbing additives, wherein the energy absorbing additives of the molten layer are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal phosphates, metal salts of organic anions and combinations thereof.

An edge trim for pieces of furniture, including a meltable layer, is described. The molecular structure of the meltable layer contains both polar and non-polar parts. By way of a non-limiting example, an edge trim for pieces of furniture having an exposed edge of wooden or wood substitute material is described, comprising a molten layer and a structural layer, wherein the structural layer and the molten layer are connected in an adhesive bond, wherein the molten layer is made of a material that is chemically modified such that polar and non-polar components are found in a single molecular structure, wherein the molten layer contains energy absorbing additives, wherein the energy absorbing additives of the molten layer are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal phosphates, metal salts of organic anions and combinations thereof.

The specification discloses a method for containing spills on shelving and the like, and the resulting support members made in accordance with the method, by providing the generally flat top surface of a support with a hydrophobic surface which is arranged in a spill containment pattern and which is generally in the plane of the top surface of the support. The majority of the top surface of the support consists of one or more spill containment areas which are of a non-hydrophobic nature and which are bounded by the hydrophobic surfaces, such that spills on the shelving collect in the non-hydrophobic spill containment area or areas and are prevented from spreading by the hydrophobic surfaces.

A locker assembly having a backlit indicia includes a pair of sidewalls and a horizontal top defining a locker enclosure. At least one shelf extends at least partially between the sidewalls and defines a storage space in the locker enclosure. An illuminated panel extending at least partially between the sidewalls includes: an at least partially translucent sheet, a plurality of powered lighting elements disposed under the sheet, and a lighting enclosure cooperating with the panel to enclose the lighting elements.

A locker assembly having a backlit indicia includes a pair of sidewalls and a horizontal top defining a locker enclosure. At least one shelf extends at least partially between the sidewalls and defines a storage space in the locker enclosure. An illuminated panel extending at least partially between the sidewalls includes: an at least partially translucent sheet, a plurality of powered lighting elements disposed under the sheet, and a lighting enclosure cooperating with the panel to enclose the lighting elements.

A shelf assembly includes a shelf panel and a hydrophobic surface applied in a spill containment pattern on the top surface of the shelf panel adjacent to at least one of the left side, right side, front, and rear edges. The shelf panel has a top surface for supporting articles, opposite left and right side edges, and opposite front and rear edges. The spill containment pattern defines at least a portion of a boundary of a central portion of the top surface of the shelf panel. An exemplary storage system generally includes a least one back channel mountable along a support surface (e.g., a back wall of a closet, etc.). At least one wall or panel of the storage system is mountable (e.g., via a connector, etc.) along the back channel. The storage system may also generally include one or more of a hang rod, side bracket, shelf trim, end cup, support bracket, and/or shelf. The shelf may be supportable by the back channel, a pair of side brackets, and at least one support bracket. The side brackets may be mountable along sidewalls of the closet and/or to the at least one wall or the storage system that is mountable along the back channel. The hang rod may supportable beneath the shelf when first and second end portions of the hang rod are supported by respective first and second end cups.
