Systems and Methods for Electronic Surface Antigen Expression Analysis Using Magnetophoresis
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to systems and methods for sorting and analyzing cells and, more particularly, to systems and methods for sorting and analyzing cells using magnetophoresis in a microfluidic platform. Some embodiments of a microfluidic device comprise an inlet for receiving a plurality of magnetically-labeled cells, a flow chamber, a magnet positioned alongside the flow chamber, and a plurality of bins having a sensor for detecting the magnetically-labeled cells. In some embodiments, the magnetic flux of the magnet causes the magnetically-labeled cells to be deflected to a particular bin. The sensors of each bin can be used to calculate the surface antigen expression and/or size of the cells within a sample of magnetically-labeled cells.
Safety light curtain to disable carousel rotation
A digital slide scanning apparatus includes a safety light curtain that operates to disable the motor that rotates the carousel when the presence of an object (e.g., the fingers of an operator) is detected within a predetermined area of the carousel. The light curtain also operates to disable the motor that rotates the carousel when an improperly positioned glass slide or slide rack is detected. The digital slide scanning apparatus also includes a multi-color status indicator for each rack slot that indicates the rack slot location of an improperly positioned glass slide or slide rack.
TEST STRIP AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURATING TEST STRIPS
The application discloses a test strip and a method for manufacturing the test strip. The test strip comprises a base layer; an intermediate layer overlaid on the base layer; a blood retaining layer comprising a slit and a blood retaining region fluidly commuted with the slit and overlaid on the intermediate layer; an upper layer overlaid on the blood retaining layer; a reagent disposed on a surface of the intermediate layer and exposed to the slit, wherein there are an expectedly predetermined depth and a measured depth from an interface between the slit and the upper layer to an upper surface of the intermediate layer; and a classification mark representing a compensation factor and disposed on an upper surface of the upper layer or a lower surface of the base layer; wherein the compensation factor is the product of a difference between the predetermined depth and the measured depth and a reciprocal of the predetermined depth.
Method for dosing a liquid using a pipette and a syringe, and pipette for operating a syringe for dosing a liquid
A method for dosing a liquid using a pipette with adjustable dosing step size and an indicating equipment and a syringe that can be operated using the pipette, wherein the syringe is detachably connected to the pipette, at option, the dosing step size is set, or the dosing step size set before is maintained, the dosing volume adjusted via the dosing step size is indicated by means of the indicating equipment, the maximum number of dosing steps possible without refilling the syringe, with the set dosing step size and completely filled syringe is indicated by means of the indicating equipment, liquid is aspirated into the syringe, a reverse stroke is performed after the syringe is filled with liquid, dosing steps are performed, the performed dosing steps are counted and the number of performed dosing steps and/or the number of dosing steps still possible without refilling the syringe is determined and indicated by means of the indicating equipment, after performing the maximum number of dosing steps possible without refilling the syringe, either the syringe is detached from the pipette, or the previous steps are performed anew by means of the same syringe, wherein in the dosing step, the overall performed number of dosing steps with the syringe with the set dosing step size is counted, and/or the number of dosing steps still possible without refilling the syringe is determined and indicated by means of the indicating equipment.
Method and apparatus for handling blood for testing
A holder rack has an array of tubular slots that cooperate with a holder to position an absorbent tip of the holder at a predetermined location. The racks fit over well plates to position each absorbent tip adjacent the bottom of a different well in the well plate to extract dried samples from the absorbent tips. The holders are transported in containers having a frame to receive the holders and a lid to keep them in the container. The absorbent tips can extend through a cap to dry, with the cap connected to the holder to enclose the absorbent tips for transport.
USE OF MULTIPLE FILLER FLUIDS IN AN EWOD DEVICE VIA THE USE OF AN ELECTROWETTING GATE
A method of operating an electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) device performs electrowetting operations on fluids dispensed into the EWOD device, which provides enhanced operation for using multiple non-polar filler fluids. The method of operating includes the steps of: dispensing a polar fluid source into the EWOD device; performing an electrowetting operation to generate an aqueous barrier from the polar fluid source, wherein the aqueous barrier separates the EWOD device into a first region and a second region that are fluidly separated from each other by the aqueous barrier; inputting a non-polar first filler fluid into the first region; inputting a non-polar second filler fluid into the second region; dispensing a polar liquid droplet into the first region; transferring the polar liquid droplet from the first region to the second region by performing an electrowetting operation to reconfigure the aqueous barrier, and performing an electrowetting operation to move the polar liquid droplet from the first region to the second region through the reconfigured aqueous barrier; and performing an electrowetting operation to reconstitute the aqueous barrier to fluidly separate the first region from the second region. The method may be performed by an EWOD control system executing program code stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium.
