The roller mill (10) contains a grinding space (11, 11) for grinding material, a separating wall (17) separates the grinding space from an aspiration space (21, 21). At least one aspiration opening (13), is formed in the separating wall (17) through which aspiration air can flow due to a pressure difference between the aspiration space and the grinding space. The roller mill (10) has a closing element (14) for opening and closing the aspiration opening (13). The closing element (14) is in or moves into an opening position (O), which opens the aspiration opening (13), when the pressure difference exceeds a threshold value, and is in or moves into a closing position (S), which closes the aspiration opening (13), when the pressure difference falls bellow the threshold value.

The scalper apparatus may include a grate extending across the interior of the housing such that any material leaving the interior through the primary lower opening must pass through the grate while any material unable to pass through the grate is caused to move through the secondary lower opening. The scalper assembly may include a brush assembly with at least one brush movable across the grate, and a carrier assembly configured to carry the at least one brush across substantially an entire top of the grate.

The exemplary embodiments herein provide a roller grain mill assembly having a lower frame, a plurality of roller grain mills attached to the lower frame, an upper frame extending upwardly from the lower frame, a single electric drive mechanically coupled to each of the roller grain mills, and a cyclone separator placed in gaseous communication with the roller grain mills and located above the electric drive. In some embodiments, a centrifugal scatterer may be suspended from the upper frame and placed in gaseous communication with the roller grain mill. In other embodiments, a cyclone separator may be placed in gaseous communication with the roller grain mill and centrifugal scatterer. An electric drive coupled to each roller grain mill may be cantilevered off the lower frame.
