The method also includes agitating the material via an impeller, where the agitation reduces at least some of the material to a second size range by the time the material reaches an outlet of the apparatus. The processed material is delivered to subsequent processing operations.

An end face of the impact reactor, remote from the rotor, is closed by a cover. A suction opening is assigned to the cover and a classifying device is assigned to the suction opening. Such an impact reactor may be used to process, by way of example, accumulator batteries, mineral wool and raw material.
