Waste management system
11325280 · 2022-05-10 ·

A waste management system, primarily intended to be for waste floating in water, though it can also be used on land. A shredding device will reduce the size of the particles of waste. Ocean water is removed by a drying device. The dried waste material is cryogenically frozen using liquid nitrogen or other suitable means. The frozen waste material is then pulverized and ground into a powder. The powder may then be sprayed into a gas-filled chamber and heated. Temperature, pressure and humidity are maintained within the chamber for more than one minute. Microwave or other radiation and catalysts may be used to enhance the process of extraction. The processed material is then removed from the chamber. Carbon and water may be recycled. The carbon may be used as fuel by the ship. Water may also be used by the ship or returned to the ocean in a non-toxic condition.

An electric pulse fragmentation device and method are provided, the device comprising a pulse transformer, one or more buffer capacitors, a plurality of IGBT modules, a storage capacitor, a spark gap, and a fragmentation chamber, the spark gap being defined by spark gap first and second electrodes, the fragmentation chamber comprising fragmentation chamber first and second electrodes. The buffer capacitors are electrically connected to a voltage rectifier. The buffer capacitors are charged by electrical current received from the voltage rectifier. The IGBT modules control partial discharge of the buffer capacitors to permit and restrict current flow from the buffer capacitor to transformer primary windings for a duration of a control pulse. The storage capacitor is charged by electrical current from transformer secondary windings. The storage capacitor is adapted to discharge current across the spark gap to the fragmentation chamber electrodes. Raw material positioned between fragmentation electrodes can be fractured.

Methods and apparatus for comminution of solid materials. Solid materials are introduced into a first pressure vessel. A working fluid is provided in the first pressure vessel at an operating pressure and an operating temperature. The working fluid is allowed to permeate into the solid materials. The working fluid may permeate into the solid materials while in a supercritical fluid phase. The working fluid is rapidly expanded to thereby create fractured solid materials from the solid materials. Rapidly expanding the working fluid may comprise causing a transition of the working fluid from a supercritical phase with a first density to a subcritical vapour phase with a second density.

A method of recycling a large amount of insole scrap stack is proposed. The method includes forming a plate-shaped stack made of flat-plate-shaped foam and woven fabric, separating an insole scrap stack from the plate-shaped stack, and forming a pulverized insole scrap having an average diameter of 0.05 to 0.7 mm by cool-pulverizing or freeze-pulverizing the insole scrap stack at 10° C. or less. The pulverized insole scrap may be used for manufacturing foam.

ULTRASONIC FILTRATION DEVICE FOR EXTRACTOR HOOD
20210356139 · 2021-11-18 ·

An ultrasonic filtration device may be incorporated into or otherwise installed in an extractor hood in a cooking environment. The ultrasonic filtration device aids in the elimination and/or reduction of contaminants in the air produced as a byproduct of cooking. Particulate contaminants are bombarded with high-energy pressure waves, thereby breaking up the particulates and reducing their size until they are no longer noticeable and/or hazardous to the user.

The invention provides an integrated separator system for the preconcentration of a material comprising one or more grizzly bars and one or more electrodes which provide a high voltage pulse (HVP) discharge to the material. The invention also provides a process for preconcentration of a material preferably a mineral within a rock which comprises: providing the material into an integrated separator system comprising one or more grizzly bars and one or more electrodes which are capable of providing at least one high voltage pulse discharge(s) to the material; applying one or more high voltage pulse discharge(s) to the material as the material is travelling along the grizzly bar(s) to preferentially disintegrate the particles containing mineral grains of high conductivity/permittivity; separating the disintegrated particles by way of the grizzly bar(s) resulting in the separation of the feed material into low grade (oversize) and high grade (undersize) products; and wherein the disintegrated particles from step b) pass through a screening element for further treatment. The present invention also relates to a process for comminution of a material.
