Magnetic removal or identification of damaged or compromised cells or cellular structures
A method for magnetic cellular manipulation may include contacting a composition with a biological sample to form a mixture. The composition may include a plurality of particles. Each particle in the plurality of particles may include a magnetic substrate. The magnetic substrate may be characterized by a magnetic susceptibility greater than zero. The composition may also include a chargeable silicon-containing compound. The chargeable silicon-containing compound may coat at least a portion of the magnetic substrate. The biological sample may include cells and/or cellular structures. The method may also include applying a magnetic field to the mixture to manipulate the composition.
Method for preventing scale deposits and removing contaminants from fluid columns
A method for providing magnetic fluid treatment in which at least one electrical conductor comprising at least one length of an electrical conducting material having a first conductor lead and a second conductor lead is energized. The electrical conductor is coiled with at least one turn to form at least one uninterrupted coil of electrical conductor encircling at least a section of an outer surface of a conduit. Energizing the at least one electrical conductor establishes a magnetic field having lines of flux directed along the flow path and concentrated in a non-magnetically conductive region located between two magnetically conductive regions. A fluid is directed through the conduit past the non-magnetically conductive region to provide magnetic fluid treatment to the fluid.

WELD BALL COLLECTION IN A PHOSPHATE SYSTEM
Weld balls disposed in solutions in full immersion tanks of a phosphate system are collected by magnets attached to at least some of the hangers that carry skids through stages of the phosphate system. The magnet attached to a hanger is immersed in the solutions when the hanger is immersed in the solutions and magnetically attracts the weld balls.

NUCLEIC ACID-BINDING SOLID-PHASE CARRIER AND NUCLEIC ACID EXTRACTION METHOD
A nucleic acid-binding solid-phase carrier includes a magnetic particle of an amorphous metal containing Fe, Cr, Si, and B, and a silicon oxide film provided on the surface of the magnetic particle.
Magnetic cleaning apparatus and method of use thereof
The present invention relates to a magnetic cleaning tool (100) for removing ferrous debris from within a BOP, riser or wellbore, the tool comprising: a tool body having a longitudinal axis, and one or more magnets (104) configured to rotate around an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis from a first position to a second position. In the first position the one or more magnets attract ferrous debris to a debris gathering surface, and in the second position the one or more magnets do not attract ferrous debris to the debris gathering surface.

Skimmer and oil water separator
A skimmer for removing a layer of oil floating on a surface oil contaminated water which subsequently concentrated and separated in an oil water separator which removes tramp oils or other fluids, such as hydraulic oils, with specific gravity less than that of the operating fluid are required to be removed from operating fluid such as water, lubri-coolants or other liquids. The skimmer supplies concentrated oil water composite fluid to a separator apparatus designed for use in industrial applications in which unwanted tramp oils or other fluids, such as hydraulic oils, with specific gravity less than that of the operating fluid are required to be removed from operating fluid such as water, lubri-coolants or other liquids.
