An irrigation nozzle is provided with a grit diversion feature to divert grit away from the interior of the nozzle. The nozzle includes a pattern template that defines the irrigation pattern produced by the nozzle. The pattern template includes one or more flow channels that may be susceptible to clogging with grit. The grit diversion feature includes one or more grit vents to redirect grit away from the interior of the nozzle and may further include an inner wall about the central hub that helps protect the central hub from intrusion by grit.

A dish treating appliance includes a tub having an access opening and at least partially defining a dish treating chamber a rotating spray arm having multiple spray nozzles and a first supply conduit fluidly coupled to the multiple spray nozzles, and a manifold supplying liquid to the first and second supply conduits, wherein the supply of liquid from the manifold to the first supply conduits causes liquid to be emitted from the multiple spray nozzles into the treating chamber.

A rotational wave nozzle includes a fixed housing having a hollow cylindrical shape; a rotary cylinder inside the fixed housing such that the rotary cylinder is freely rotatable about the axial direction; a spray nozzle fixed on a front side of the rotary cylinder, emitting a compressed gas received by a rear end of the rotary cylinder outwardly, an emission direction of the spray nozzle being inclined relative to the axial direction of the rotary cylinder so that the emitted compressed gas causes the rotary cylinder and the spray nozzle fixed thereto to rotate; and a rotation suppressor fixed on a circumference side of the rotary cylinder, the rotation suppressor having a movable member that moves outwardly in a radial direction in response to a centrifugal force such that the movable member causes the rotation of the rotary cylinder due to the emitted compressed gas to be braked.

A wastewater spray distribution apparatus is operative to distribute wastewater produced by a sewage treatment system (10) onto a ground level (22) through operation of sprayers (118, 260). The exemplary sprayers include a manifold (142, 262) that includes outlet nozzles (158, 264) that can be readily removed and replaced. The exemplary manifold further includes interior areas bounded by surfaces that slope continuously downward from the outlet nozzles to the manifold inlet to assure the draining of water therefrom. Each of the nozzles include a base (140) which includes brake (207). A brake is provided in each nozzle and is adjustable to provide brake force to limit rotational movement produced by the thrust of water passing from the outlet nozzles to assure that the sprayer operates at the appropriate rotational speed. Alternative arrangements include manifolds including fixed or adjustable flaps and radially outwardly adjustable arms to adjust rotational properties.

A mechanism is described to resist or prevent rotation of portions of an irrigation sprinkler riser when in its lowered or popped-down position. Hence, when a pedestrian walks over a lowered sprinkler or a lawn mower rolls over a sprinkler, for example, the riser will remain fixed in its rotational orientation relative to its outer body and surroundings. By resisting or preventing this rotation, this rotational locking mechanism prevents damage to the internal transmission, gears, and arc trip mechanisms of the sprinkler, as well as prevents the watering arc from being accidentally adjusted.

A sprinkler includes a pop-up deflector plate that is engageable with a brake assembly in an extended position. A brake module is secured to a sprinkler body and includes a rotatable connector coupled with the brake assembly. The pop-up deflector plate is disposed adjacent the nozzle and engages the rotatable connector in the extended position.

An irrigation nozzle with a rotating deflector is provided whose rotational speed may be controlled by a friction brake. The nozzle may also include an arc adjustment valve having two portions that helically engage each other to define an opening that may be adjusted at the top of the sprinkler to a desired arcuate length. The arcuate length may be adjusted by pressing down and rotating a deflector to directly actuate the valve. The nozzle may also include a radius reduction valve that may be adjusted by actuation of an outer wall of the nozzle. Rotation of the outer wall causes a flow control member to move axially to or away from an inlet.

In one aspect, a sprinkler is provided having a nozzle, a deflector that receives fluid flow from the nozzle, and a friction or viscous brake assembly that controls rotation of a deflector. The friction or viscous brake assembly is releasably connected to the frame in order to enhance serviceability of the sprinkler. In another aspect, a sprinkler is provided having a frame, a deflector rotatably connected to the frame, a nozzle, and a nozzle socket of the frame. The nozzle and nozzle socket have interlocking portions that releasably connect the nozzle to the frame. The nozzle may be easily removed for servicing. Further, the nozzle socket can be configured to receive a plurality of nozzles having different flow characteristics. A nozzle can be selected and utilized with the sprinkler according to the desired application for the sprinkler.

In one aspect, a sprinkler is provided having a nozzle, a deflector that receives fluid flow from the nozzle, and a friction or viscous brake assembly that controls rotation of a deflector. The friction or viscous brake assembly is releasably connected to the frame in order to enhance serviceability of the sprinkler. In another aspect, a sprinkler is provided having a frame, a deflector rotatably connected to the frame, a nozzle, and a nozzle socket of the frame. The nozzle and nozzle socket have interlocking portions that releasably connect the nozzle to the frame. The nozzle may be easily removed for servicing. Further, the nozzle socket can be configured to receive a plurality of nozzles having different flow characteristics. A nozzle can be selected and utilized with the sprinkler according to the desired application for the sprinkler.
