Electrodeposition coating for medical devices
09821090 · 2017-11-21 · ·

The present disclosure relates generally to coating medical devices. In particular, the present disclosure provides materials and methods for coating a portion of a balloon catheter with a pharmaceutical agent using electrodeposition techniques. Although angioplasty and stenting can be effective methods for treating vascular occlusions, restenosis remains a pervasiveness problem. Therefore, coating portions of a balloon catheter with a pharmaceutical agent that inhibits restenosis can reduce the likelihood of restenosis.

Surface-treated steel plate and production method for same

The present invention relates to a surface-treated steel plate and to a production method for same, and more specifically relates to a surface-treated steel plate having outstanding corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity. In order to achieve this aim, in the present invention a macromolecular resin composition comprising graphene, which has highly outstanding physical properties including electrical conductivity, is coated onto the surface of a steel foundation plate, thereby making it possible to provide a surface-treated steel plate able to supremely well ensure not only corrosion resistance but also the intrinsic characteristics of graphene due to the macromolecular resin composition.

Fastener sealing material and method

A fastener sealing material for application to fasteners is formulated from an acrylate present in a concentration of about 90 to about 97 percent by weight of the sealing material and a nanostructured material present in a concentration of about 3 to about 10 percent by weight of the sealing material. The sealant is applied to the fastener as a liquid and is cured using an ultraviolet or LED light source and without the use of heat.

Functionalized Surface

A method of treating a polymer surface using conventional plasma nitriding, and a nitrided polymer surface obtained thereby. The method comprises introducing nitrogen into the polymer surface using conventional plasma nitriding, and optionally functionalizing the nitrided polymer surface with a molecule, such as an antimicrobial moiety, which is capable of forming a covalent bond with the nitrogen atoms within the polymer surface.

ARTICLE WITH CONTROLLABLE WETTABILITY

An article with controllable wettability includes a substrate and a layer of a composite material supported on the substrate. The layer has an exposed surface and the composite material includes particles that have controllable polarization embedded fully or partially in a matrix. A controller is operable to selectively apply a controlled variable activation energy to the layer. The controllable polarization of the particles varies responsive to the controlled variable activation energy such that a wettability of the exposed surface also varies responsive to the controlled variable activation energy.

A coating method includes a coating step of applying coating material to a workpiece, and a curing step of curing the coating material by irradiating the applied coating material with an electron beam emitted from an electron beam irradiation unit, wherein in the curing step, a potential of the workpiece is higher than a potential of the electron beam irradiation unit.

SUPERHYDROPHOBIC AND SELF-CLEANING SUBSTRATE AND A METHOD OF COATING

A superhydrophobic and self-cleaning surface including a substrate and a superhydrophobic layer. The superhydrophobic layer having a reacted form of octadecyltrichlorosilane. The octadecyltrichlorosilane is disposed on and crosslinked to a surface of the substrate via surface hydroxyl groups. The surface exhibits a rms roughness of 40 nm to 60 nm, a water contact angle of 155° to 180°, and a contact angle hysteresis of less than 15°. A method of preparing the substrate with a superhydrophobic and self-cleaning surface including treating a substrate with a plasma treatment, contacting the substrate with water or an alcohol to form an hydroxylated substrate, contacting the hydroxylated substrate with a solution of octadecyltrichlorosilane in an alkane solvent at a concentration in the range of 0.05 M to 0.3 M, and drying the solution on to the substrate under ambient air to form the superhydrophobic and self-cleaning surface on the substrate.

Apparatus and method for controlled application of reactive vapors to produce thin films and coatings

A vapor phase deposition method and apparatus for the application of thin layers and coatings on substrates. The method and apparatus are useful in the fabrication of electronic devices, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), Bio-MEMS devices, micro and nano imprinting lithography, and microfluidic devices. The apparatus used to carry out the method provides for the addition of a precise amount of each of the reactants to be consumed in a single reaction step of the coating formation process. The apparatus provides for precise addition of quantities of different combinations of reactants during a single step or when there are a number of different individual steps in the coating formation process. The precise addition of each of the reactants in vapor form is metered into a predetermined set volume at a specified temperature to a specified pressure, to provide a highly accurate amount of reactant.
