Method of dispensing a material
A method and system for dispensing a material through a delivery apparatus is provided. The material initially comprises or is manipulated to comprise a low viscosity. The material either can comprise a curable material or can comprise initiators, which can be activated to raise the viscosity at a later time and position. The low viscosity material is moved through the delivery apparatus for a relatively long distance using low energy. Upon nearing an end use application, the material and/or initiators can be activated by a curing agent, such as a light or heat source, such that the viscosity of the material be raised prior to the end use application thereof. Therefore, the present invention provides a method and system for moving a material normally having a higher viscosity a long distance requiring lower energy and pressure.
Methods and systems for filling cracks in environmental barrier coatings and thermal barrier coatings and components formed thereby
Methods and systems are provided for filling cracks in an environmental barrier coating and/or a thermal barrier coating (EBC/TBC). The method comprises locating a component within an enclosure of an apparatus, the component including a substrate having the EBC/TBC thereon, wherein the EBC/TBC includes cracks extending from an exterior surface of the EBC/TBC toward the substrate, reducing pressure within the enclosure to a first pressure that is less than atmospheric pressure, applying a filler slurry to the exterior surface to cover the cracks while the EBC/TBC is exposed to the first pressure, increasing the enclosure to a second pressure that is greater than the first pressure, wherein the second pressure is sufficient to cause the filler slurry on the EBC/TBC to infiltrate into and fill the cracks, and sintering the filler slurry sufficient to cure the filler slurry within the cracks.
Robotic repair control systems and methods
A repaired area on a work surface is presented. The repaired area includes a repairboundary. Within the repairboundary, the work surface has a repair texture and, outside of the repair boundary, the work surface has a work surface texture. The repaired area also includes a repair depth distribution within the repair boundary and a concealing feature. The repaired area is a result of a robotic repair executed on the work surface to remove a defect.
Ultra-fast UV-cured material for repairing surface imperfections
A method of sealing surface imperfections on a sanded surface of a repair to a vehicle body is provided that includes an uncured layer of a formulation being applied to sanded cured body filler on the vehicle body. The formulation includes a polyester resin, a crosslinking agent, a solvent, and a particulate filler. The uncured layer is exposed to actinic radiation to induce cure of the uncured layer to form a sealing coating. The resulting seal coating has able to seal surface imperfections. A surface imperfection sealing formulation is also provided that includes a polyester resin and a multifunctional crosslinking agent. A solvent is provided. A photoinitiator renders the formulation curable upon exposure to ultraviolet light exposure. A particulate filler is also present in an amount to result in a formulation with an uncured viscosity of between 2600 and 3000 centipoises.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING A QUALITY PARAMETER OF A REPRESENTATION OF A COATING COMPOSITION
Disclosed herein are a method and a system for determining a quality parameter of a representation of a coating composition. More specifically, disclosed herein is a method of determining a quality parameter of a modified or new representation of a coating composition, such as a mixing formula, by acquiring sensor data during application of the coating composition as well as surface property data of the prepared coating layer and comparing said data to predefined values, in particular predefined parameters and/or tolerances. The methods disclosed herein may be used for screening modified or new representations of coating compositions according to a quality criterion as well as a database including at least one modified or new representation of a coating composition, where the modified or new representation is provided to the database using the disclosed method.
Hybrid laser surface processing and spray coating system
Methods and systems for treating components are described. The methods include using a system having a controller, a laser applicator, a coating applicator, and a sensor array. The laser applicator, the coating applicator, and the sensor array are arranged on a treatment arm that is controlled by the controller. The method includes scanning a surface to be treated of the component using the sensor array, cleaning the surface to be treated using the laser applicator, defining surface texture patterns, applying laser texturing, and applying a new coating to the surface to be treated using the coating applicator.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PIPELINE COATING
A coating system to coat the interior of a pipeline section using a UV curable coating and an internally pressurized UV foil that assists in suspending and distributing coatings during UV curing. The UV foil may be installed through the length of the pipeline section using an inversion system driven by pressurized air. The system includes a coating delivery system for distributing the coating along the interior of the pipe. The system includes a UV light source capable of delivery sufficient UV light to cure the coating. The UV light source may include a light train having a plurality of UV light sources, such as UV light emitting diodes, carried by a motorized trolley. The coating system includes an inlet adapter that facilitates inversion and pressurization of the UV foil, as well as introduction of the UV light source into the interior of the pressurized UV foil.
Methods and apparatuses for applying activated primer to a substrate surface
Methods and apparatuses are disclosed relating to the delivery of primer compounds in liquid form to substrates from a hand-held device. Apparatuses are disclosed that, in a single barrel device, store primer components, mix primer components to achieve an activated primer, and deliver the activated primer to a substrate surface.

Surface treatment compositon for forming self-assembled coating capable of being easily coated, removed or recoated
The present invention relates to a surface treatment composition for forming a self-assembled coating layer which is easily coated and removed and a surface treatment method, where the self-assembled coating layer can be easily formed because of use of a compound having the hydroxyl groups as a diol are attached to an ortho position of a benzene ring and be removed by treatment of Al.sup.3+ or Fe.sup.3+. Thus, the surface can be reused by forming a new self-assembled coating layer, thereby making the surface treatment composition be applied to various researches and industrial fields of the self-assembly coating layer which are used for reduction in metal abrasion resistance, introduction of a chemical functional group for detecting a biomolecule, the surface hydrophilicity, introduction of an antifouling property to the surface, and the like.
