Method for repairing an airfoil surface having an elastomeric protective coating
09770791 · 2017-09-26 · ·

This invention relates to the repair and removal of erosion or impact damage with a liquid repair material using a flexible applicator capable of conforming to the surface of the leading edge of the airfoil while being drawn lengthwise along the airfoil surface of a helicopter or wind turbine rotor blade thereby restoring the aerodynamic contour with or without the addition of an optional topcoat layer.

Method of dispensing a material
09772059 · 2017-09-26 · ·

A method and system for dispensing a material through a delivery apparatus is provided. The material initially comprises or is manipulated to comprise a low viscosity. The material either can comprise a curable material or can comprise initiators, which can be activated to raise the viscosity at a later time and position. The low viscosity material is moved through the delivery apparatus for a relatively long distance using low energy. Upon nearing an end use application, the material and/or initiators can be activated by a curing agent, such as a light or heat source, such that the viscosity of the material be raised prior to the end use application thereof. Therefore, the present invention provides a method and system for moving a material normally having a higher viscosity a long distance requiring lower energy and pressure.

Custom paint touch up tool
09770737 · 2017-09-26 ·

A one-step process to store paint for use in touching up painted walls. The invention tool removes the need to break out all the paint supplies to fix a small scratch or nick in the wall. The invention tool is a custom paint storage container and applicator. When a user is painting the user's walls, the user can fill up the custom tool of the present invention with the same paint and store the small leak proof bottle of the tool almost anywhere. Then, if a wall becomes scratched or nicked or if objects that have been hung on the wall need to be removed or relocated, the tool can be used to have the applicator apply paint from the original paint source to touch up the nick or scratch or hole.

MULTI DIMENSIONAL SCANNING AND MATERIAL DEPOSITING APPARATUS FOR SURFACE RECTIFICATION
20170261438 · 2017-09-14 ·

A rectification device and a method of using the device for rectification of a surface defect including mounting an positioning the rectification device at least one of adjacent or covering a defect;, identifying the defect, acquiring, a multi dimensional topological grid profile of the defect, calculating a fill volume and distribution sequence, including but not limited to, material transfer order, deposit layer thickness, that will achieve surface continuity with the region around the defect, and filling the defect with a suitable filler using at least one precision guided filling head in one or more filling passes following the calculate fill sequence until surface continuity is achieved.

SELF-HEALING LAMINATE COMPOSITION, RELATED ARTICLES AND RELATED METHODS
20220040730 · 2022-02-10 ·

The disclosure relates to a self-healing laminate composition. The composition includes a first, self-healing layer with a self-healing polymer and a second, mechanical layer adjacent to the first layer. The second layer includes any desired polymer, for example a crosslinked polymer, a thermoplastic polymer, or a functional thermoset polymer. Self-healing polymers with dynamic covalent bonds are suitable, for example those with dynamic urea bonds and/or dynamic urethane bonds. A self-healing polymer that is damaged can undergo autonomous repair when separated surfaces re-contact each other due to the soft nature of the self-healing polymer, whereupon reversible bonds can reform to rejoin and repair the damaged self-healing polymer. When the self-healing laminate according to the disclosure is damaged, the self-healing mechanism of the first layer can cause the repair of both layers. The self-healing laminate composition can be used as a coating on any of a variety of substrates to provide self-healing properties to a surface

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DEFECT REPAIR

A system for repairing a paint defect of a part can have means for identifying the paint defect of the part, a robotic applicator, and a computer module. The robotic applicator can include a dispenser and a pad. The robotic applicator can be configured to position the dispenser and the pad adjacent to the paint defect of the part. The dispenser can be configured to atomize a composition into an atomized composition. The dispenser can be also configured to dispose a predetermined amount of the atomized composition on the paint defect. The pad can be configured to work the predetermined amount of the atomized composition on the paint defect. The computer module can be in communication with the robotic applicator. The computer module can be configured to control functions of the robotic applicator.
