PHOTOCURABLE TOPCOAT REPAIR COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR THE USE THEREOF
A method for repairing a surface imperfection in a clear topcoat overlying a pigmented color coat of a panel includes the application of an amount of a repair composition to the surface imperfection in an amount to fill the surface imperfection. The repair composition is exposed to actinic radiation inducing cure of the repair composition to form a cured fill. A ceramic coating is readily applied after cure to overlie the fill with bonded ceramic particulate. A composition is also provided. An exterior body panel is also provided that includes a substrate having a shape of the panel. A pigmented color coat is present on a surface of the substrate. A clear topcoat overlies the pigmented color coat. A cured composition as detailed above fills surface imperfections in the topcoat.
METHOD TO STRIP COATINGS OFF OF AN ALUMINUM ALLOY FAN BLADE
A method for stripping a coating off of a blade includes discharging liquid nitrogen through a nozzle onto the blade at a coating to cause lifting of the coating from a substrate of the blade and traversing the nozzle along the blade to cause peeling of the coating off of the substrate of the blade as the nozzle traverses the blade.
Coating of Surfaces using the Drop-on-Demand Method
The invention relates to a method for coating an application surface (11) of a component (10), in particular of a building, within an application area (12) with a coating agent, in particular with a building paint, comprising a step of edge application to the application area (12) and a step of surface application to the application area (12), which does not include the edge application, characterised in that a first application method on the basis of the drop-on-demand method is used in the edge application step, and a second application method, which has a higher surface coating output than the first application method, is used in the surface application step.
Method Of Repairing Paint Film And Articles Comprising Repaired Paint Film
In order to repair any damage to an originally applied paint film, a method of the invention facilitates repair of the paint film by removing essentially only that portion of the paint film that is damaged. After removal of the damaged portion of the paint film, a series of abrading, application, and polishing steps results in a repaired portion of the paint film.
METHODS OF APPLYING A RAPID CURE SEALANT TO AN AIRCRAFT SURFACE
Applicant discloses a novel method of spray applying multiple courses of a rapid cure, two part polymer sealant to an aircraft surface. The method sometimes uses a two part polymer mix for use in the aircraft industry that is applied with pneumatic mix and spray gun. The two part cartridge is used in the mix and spray gun so the mix is applied immediately upon mixing, but the two components are kept separated unless the gun is applying the mix. The multiple courses cure to form a clear sealant that allows for inspection of cracks and corrosion beneath the sealant. It cures quickly so that the coated part may be further processed, for example in the assembly line during aircraft build. Applicant further discloses multiple spray gun systems for applying such a two-part polymer mix to aircraft parts.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF TREATING A HYDROGEL-COATED MEDICAL DEVICE
This present invention discloses kits, solutions, and methods for regenerating a hydrogel coating on a hydrogel coated medical device. The solution comprises a first hydrophilic polymer and a second hydrophilic polymer. The reaction of the first and second hydrophilic polymers with the originally coated surface of the medical device forms an at least partially covalently crosslinked hydrogel layer. The solution may be part of a kit, wherein the first and second hydrophilic polymers are provided separately with or without the medical device included in the kit. The originally coated surface of the medical device has an initial thickness before use or wear and a second thickness before use or wear, the second thickness being less than the first thickness. Treatment of the hydrogel coated medical device with the solutions described herein increased the second thickness to approach a final thickness that is substantially equal to the initial thickness.
Top Coat Composition
Waterborne top coat compositions, processes for preparing such compositions, and methods for forming top coats on substrates are provided. In an embodiment, a waterborne top coat composition includes water, pigment(s) and resin solids. The resin solids comprise about 60 to 100 wt. % of binder solids and 0 to about 40 wt. % of crosslinker solids, the binder solids comprising about 1 to about 40 wt. % of an acrylic/(meth)acryl copolymer hybrid binder, and about 60 to about 99 wt. % of one or more additional binders, the sum of the respective wt. % in each case equaling 100 wt. %.
ULTRA-FAST UV-CURED MATERIAL FOR REPAIRING SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS
A method of sealing surface imperfections on a sanded surface of a repair to a vehicle body is provided that includes an uncured layer of a formulation being applied to sanded cured body filler on the vehicle body. The formulation includes a polyester resin, a crosslinking agent, a solvent, and a particulate filler. The uncured layer is exposed to actinic radiation to induce cure of the uncured layer to form a sealing coating. The resulting seal coating has able to seal surface imperfections. A surface imperfection sealing formulation is also provided that includes a polyester resin and a multifunctional crosslinking agent. A solvent is provided. A photoinitiator renders the formulation curable upon exposure to ultraviolet light exposure. A particulate filler is also present in an amount to result in a formulation with an uncured viscosity of between 2600 and 3000 centipoises.
ENVIRONMENTAL BARRIER COATING AND METHOD OF REPAIRING THE SAME
A method of repairing a coating on an article according to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, among other possible things includes defining a work area surrounding a discontinuity in the coating, the coating including undisturbed bond coat and undisturbed top coat; removing coating material within the work area; applying a slurry containing bond coat constituents in a carrier fluid to the work area; curing the slurry to form a repaired bond coat; applying a slurry containing top coat constituents in a carrier fluid to the work area; and curing the slurry to form a repaired top coat. A method of repairing a coating on an article and an article are also disclosed.
LEARNING FRAMEWORK FOR ROBOTIC PAINT REPAIR
A method and associated system for providing robotic paint repair includes receiving coordinates of identified defects in a substrate along with characteristics of the defects, and communicating the coordinates to a robot controller module along with additional data needed to control a robot manipulator to bring an end effector of the robot manipulator into close proximity to the identified defect on the substrate. The characteristics of the defect and current state of at least the end effector is provided to a policy server that provides repair actions based on a previously learned control policy that is updated by a machine learning unit. The repair action is executed by communicating instructions for the repair action to the robot controller module and end effector.
