METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COATING A NARROW SIDE OF A PLATE-SHAPED WORKPIECE
The invention relates to a method for coating a narrow side (1) of a plate-shaped workpiece (2) with a coating material (3), in particular a strip-shaped or band-shaped coating material (3), using a coating apparatus, wherein, before being applied to the narrow side (1) of the workpiece (2), the coating material (3) is colored with a basic color (4) at least in a peripheral area (5), which is assigned to an adhesive surface (6) of the coating material (3), or the coating material (3) is entirely colored with the basic color (4), wherein the basic color (4) is color-matched to a shade and/or pattern and/or decoration of a surface (8) of the workpiece (2) such that, after the coating material (3) has been applied to the narrow side (1) of the workpiece (2), a matched color transition between the colored coating material (3) and the shade and/or pattern and/or decoration of the surface (8) of the workpiece (2) is formed, and to a coating apparatus carrying out such a method.
POLYMER DISPERSION FOR COATING WOOD FOR BLOCKING MIGRATABLE COMPOUNDS
The invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion, with said polymer comprising, in its structure, monomer units incorporated from a composition of monomers comprising: a) at least one (meth)acrylic monomer which is a C.sub.1-C.sub.18 (meth)acrylic ester, without any ionic group, b) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying at least one carboxylic acid group, c) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying a tertiary amine, and with said polymer additionally carrying grafted blocked silane groups in the —Si(OR.sub.1).sub.3 or —Si—R.sub.2(OR.sub.1).sub.2 or —Si—(R.sub.2).sub.2(OR.sub.1), with R.sub.1, R.sub.2 being an identical or different C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, and with said grafted blocked silane groups being incorporated by at least one or two routes or their combination. The invention also relates to a coating composition comprising said dispersion of the invention and to its use for aqueous protective coating compositions for wood.

COATED PANEL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH PANEL
A method may be provided for manufacturing a panel that may include a substrate and a top layer provided on the substrate. The top layer may have a printed motif and a translucent or transparent synthetic material layer provided above the printed motif. The panel may have a structure or relief at the surface. The method may involve milling profiles into the substrate to obtain mechanical coupling means for coupling together two of the panels. The structure or relief and/or the printed motif may be realized after milling the profiles into the substrate.
WOOD ARTICLE AND PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE WOOD ARTICLE
The present disclosure relates to a wood article and a process for preparing the wood article. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a wood article comprising a wood substrate comprising acidic substances and having at least one major surface; a sealing coating applied on the major surface of the wood substrate; and a Michael Addition curing coating applied on the sealing coating, wherein the sealing coating is formed by a sealing agent comprising one or more chosen from an aqueous latex of polyurethane acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of carboxyl functional self-crosslinkable acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of cationic acrylics polymer, an aqueous latex of polyvinyl acetate and a two-component polyurethane coating system; and wherein the Michael Addition curing coating is formed from a two-component curable coating composition.
METHOD FOR PREPARING AND TOP COATING A POWDER COATED WOOD SUBSTRATE
The invention includes a method for preparing and top coating an item made of powder coated MDF (or other substrate containing wood) with the end result of improved visual and tactile smoothness; the invention includes the steps of cutting and machining the part, pre-powder preparation and sanding of the part, powder coating the part, post-powder preparation and sanding, and applying the liquid top coat to the part, resulting in a smoother finish than is currently available in any other powder coated MDF finish while requiring less coats than similar liquid paint finishes.
