In a first aspect, the invention concerns a method for providing a varnish coating to individual sheet substrates, said method comprising the steps of applying a liquid coating composition to the upper surface of a sheet substrate, conveying said sheet substrate along a track, while supporting the substrate from its rear surface, and subsequently curing and/or drying said coating composition. In particular, the aforementioned track is at least partly curved. In a second aspect, the invention relates to a device for performing such a method.

Dust repellent silica and titania coatings

Novel coatings disclosed herein can be used to mitigate dust adhesion. In one embodiment, a method of making a dust repellant coating includes combining a titanium dioxide sol with colloidal silica to form a mixture. The method also includes adding solvent to the mixture, stirring the mixture for about an hour, and filtering the mixture into a solution of titanium dioxide and silica dioxide.

Fiber-based microwave bowls with selective spray coating

Methods and apparatus for vacuum forming and subsequently applying topical coatings fiber-based food containers. The slurry includes one or more of an embedded moisture barrier, vapor barrier, and oil barrier, and the topical coating comprises one or more of a vapor barrier, a moisture barrier, an oil barrier, and an oxygen barrier. For food containers having deep sidewalls, a spray coating system includes a first nozzle for applying a full cone spray pattern to the bottom surface of the container, and a second nozzle for applying a hollow cone spray pattern to the inside surfaces of the side walls.

Methods of controlling a converting line that produces paper products

A method of controlling a paper product converting line. The method includes unwinding a paper web from a parent roll on a converting line, the converting line having a plurality of operational parameters, the paper web including a plurality of sections in a sequence, and a plurality of marks, each mark being associated with an action score, at least one action score having an action value, reading at least one of the marks, obtaining the action score associated with a second one of the marks, the second of the marks being a next mark with an action value after the one read mark, calculating a distance between the at least one read mark and the second one, changing at least one operational parameter of the converting line based upon the action score, and converting the paper web into a paper product.

METHODS OF CONVERTING A PAPER WEB INTO PAPER PRODUCTS BY READING MARKS ON THE PAPER WEB

A method of producing a paper product by forming a paper web on a paper machine, the web including a plurality of sections, analyzing the web, marking the web, winding the web to form a parent roll after the web has been inspected and marked, assigning an action score to each section of the web, at least one action score having an action value, unwinding a web from a parent roll, reading at least one of a plurality of marks with a mark reading unit, obtaining the action score associated with a second one of the marks, calculating a distance between a mark read by the reading unit and the second one of the marks, changing at least one operational parameter of a converting line based upon the action score of the second of the marks when the distance is less than a threshold, and converting the paper web.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR APPLYING ADHESIVE TO CORES FOR A LOG
20190015863 · 2019-01-17 · ·

The present invention concerns a device (1) for applying adhesive to cores for a log comprising moving means (3) configured to cause at least one core (5) to advance along a feed direction (A) and dispensing means (7) configured for dispensing an amount of adhesive (9) on said core (5).

According to the invention such dispensing means (7) are moveable along an application direction (B) substantially orthogonal to the feed direction (A) and are configured to selectively dispense said amount of adhesive (9) along portions (11) of the core (5) during movement along said application direction (B).

Methods and apparatus for manufacturing fiber-based produce containers

Methods and apparatus for manufacturing vacuum forming a produce container using a fiber-based slurry. The slurry includes a moisture barrier comprising alkyl ketene dimer in the range of about 4% by weight, and a cationic liquid starch component in the range of 1%-7% by weight.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR COATING FILTER MEDIA

A method for plasma coating a compressible structure, includes the steps of: compressing the compressible structure thereby removing air from the compressible structure; and coating the compressed structure according to the following steps: a) ionizing a plasma gas at a temperature of 150? C. or lower, and at about atmospheric pressure, thereby creating a plasma; b) introducing a precursor into said plasma, thereby obtaining a precursor-comprising plasma; c) exposing the compressed structure to said precursor-comprising plasma, thereby forming a coating onto surfaces of the structure.

Systems for controlling a manufacturing line used to convert a paper web into paper products by reading marks on the paper web

A system for producing a paper product. The system includes a paper machine, an analysis tool, and a converting line. The paper machine forms a paper web having a plurality of sections, inspects the paper web to identify web properties, and marks the paper web with a plurality of marks. The analysis tool assigns action scores to each section of the paper web based upon the identified properties that section of the paper web. The converting line reads at least one of the plurality of marks on the paper web, obtains the action score associated with a second one of the plurality of marks, calculates a distance between the at least one mark read by the reading unit and the second one of the plurality of marks, and changes at least one operational parameter of the converting line when the calculated distance is less than a threshold.
