Moisture resistant coating for barrier films
A process for making a barrier film having a substrate, a base polymer layer applied to the substrate, an oxide layer applied to the base polymer layer, and a top coat polymer layer applied to the oxide layer is provided. An optional inorganic layer can be applied over the top coat polymer layer. The top coat polymer layer is formed by vapor depositing and curing cyclic aza-silane and acrylate monomer. The use of a silane co-deposited with an acrylate to form the top coat layer of the barrier films provide for enhanced resistance to moisture and improved peel strength adhesion of the top coat layer to the underlying barrier stack layers.

COATED ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A method of making a coated abrasive article, the method comprising: providing a backing, providing a curable abrasive slurry having a homogeneous dispersal of abrasive particles, applying the abrasive slurry to at least part of a major surface of the backing and forming a surface texture in the slurry, wherein the abrasive slurry is capable of maintaining the homogeneous dispersal of abrasive particles and the surface texture in an uncured state.
Edge build and edge blister performance of coil coatings
A liquid polymeric coating composition that upon application to a substrate, such as a coil substrate, preferably does not exhibit the edge build and edge blistering that commonly occurs with conventional liquid polymeric coating compositions. In some embodiments, the liquid polymeric coating composition is modified by tailoring the surface tension, the openness of the coating composition as indicated by the modulus of elasticity, or a combination thereof to reduce edge build and edge blistering. The modified liquid polymeric composition may be applied to a surface of the substrate and cured to form a film coating that reduces or alleviates commonly encountered edge defects in conventional liquid polymeric coating compositions, such as edge build and edge blistering, which may avoid the need for edge trimming of the coated substrate. The coated coil substrate is well suited for forming food or beverage containers or portions thereof.
LAMINATED FILM
A laminated film has a resin layer on at least one surface of a polyester film, in which the resin layer is on at least one surface layer, the water contact angle of the resin layer is 85°-100°, inclusive, and |H2−H1|≤1.0 (%) is satisfied, H1 (%) being the haze of the laminated film and H2 (%) being the haze of the laminated film after being immersed in a solvent and subjected to a rub test. This laminated film has excellent coating and releasability properties with respect to ceramic slurry.
Display apparatus and methods
A display includes a plurality of pixel chips, chixels, provided on a substrate. The chixels and the light emitters thereon may be shaped, sized and arranged to minimize chixel, pixel, and sub-pixel gaps and to provide a seamless look between adjacent display modules. The substrate may include light manipulators, such as filters, light converters and the like to manipulate the light emitted from light emitters of the chixels. The light manipulators may be arranged to minimize chixel gaps between adjacent chixels.
Method and apparatus for forming articles with non-uniform discontinuous patterned coatings
A process for applying a coating material onto a substrate as a non-uniform discontinuous pattern of coating material, the method including the present disclosure describes a method of applying a coating material onto a substrate, including providing a first distribution manifold having a cavity and a multiplicity of first dispensing outlets in fluid communication with the cavity, creating relative motion between a substrate and the dispensing outlets in a first direction; dispensing a first coating material from the dispensing outlets while maintaining the relative motion and translating the multiplicity of dispensing outlets in a second direction non-parallel to the first direction, and varying a rate of dispensing of the first coating material in a predetermined fashion to form a discontinuous pattern of the first coating material on a major surface of the substrate. Useful non-uniformly patterned coated articles can be prepared using the process.
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF PASTE-LAYER-ATTACHED SHEET AND COATING APPLICATOR
At the time of forming a paste layer on a substrate sheet by use of three rolls placed at right angles, in order to offset a variation amount of a first gap due to thermal expansion of the rolls, a variation amount in a given detection period is calculated by use of outputs of a first sensor configured to detect a coating film surface of a second-roll coating film of a second roll and a second sensor configured to detect a second-roll surface, and the first roll is moved by use of a first-roll moving mechanism.
Method for forming a cast elastomer
One variation of a method for directly casting a thin layer onto a substrate includes: combining a prepolymer, a solvent, and a curing agent to define a viscous material; advancing a substrate from a roll across a surface continuously at a first speed; depositing the viscous material at a viscosity through a deposition head onto the substrate, the viscous material flowing laterally across the substrate to form a thin layer of substantially uniform thickness over the substrate over a period of time while the substrate advances along the surface; and, at a distance from the deposition head depositing the viscous material onto the substrate corresponding to a duration of time for the viscous material to flow laterally across the substrate, heating the viscous material to evaporate solvent and to induce reaction between the curing agent and the prepolymer to cure the viscous material to form a layer.
