METHOD FOR PRODUCING LACQUER-COATED ELECTRICAL STRIPS, AND LACQUER-COATED ELECTRICAL STRIP
A process for producing a coated electrical steel strip includes application of a pretreatment layer over a first flat side of a rolled electrical steel strip. The layer thickness of the pretreatment layer is in the range from 10 nm to 100 nm, in particular from 20 nm to 50 nm. The rolled electrical steel strip which has been coated with the pretreatment layer is then coated with an insulating lacquer layer over the pretreatment layer. The insulating lacquer layer is applied by roll application using a roll and no deliberate drying and/or crosslinking of the pretreatment layer is carried out after application of the pretreatment layer and before coating with the insulating lacquer layer.
IMAGE FORMATION WITH ELECTROSTATIC FIXATION
A device includes a media supply, a first portion, and a second portion. The media supply is to supply a media along a travel path and to which a ground element is to be electrically connected. The first portion along the travel path is to receive droplets of ink particles within a dielectric carrier fluid on the media to form at least a portion of an image on the media. The second portion is downstream along the travel path from the first portion and includes a charge generation portion to emit airborne charges to charge the ink particles to move, via attraction relative to the grounded media, through the received carrier fluid toward the media to become electrostatically fixed on the media.
METAL PACKAGING POWDER COATING COMPOSITIONS, COATED METAL SUBSTRATES, AND METHODS
Powder coating compositions, particularly metal packaging powder coating compositions, coated metal substrates, and methods; wherein the powder coating compositions include powder polymer particles comprising a polymer having a number average molecular weight of at least 2000 Daltons, wherein the powder polymer particles have a particle size distribution having a D50 of less than 25 microns; and, in certain embodiments, one or more charge control agents in contact with the powder polymer particles.
MULTI-MATERIAL DISPENSING AND COATING SYSTEMS
Systems and methods for dispensing liquid materials as may be used in applications for coating flexible films and the like. Such a film may be coated by dispensing a rheological material onto its surface while drawing the film through a gap between a pair of rollers. The gap defines the thickness of a layer of the material applied to the film and is maintained at a desired width by microwires positioned through the gap. Another film across the gap from that to which the rheological material is applied aids in the coating of the layer and a contact area of the second film may be adjusted relative to the gap, e.g., when changing materials or when the coating film becomes abraded or deformed.
Fluorocarbon release coating
An organofluorine coating on a major surface of a substrate, wherein the organofluorine coating has a surface composition of about 5 at % to about 15 at % oxygen and about 30 at % to about 50 at % fluorine.
System and Process For Applying An Adhesive To A Moving Web
A system and process are disclosed for applying an adhesive composition to a moving web of material. During the process, a web of material is conveyed very rapidly adjacent to a nozzle of an adhesive applicator. A defecting device periodically deflects the web into contact with a surface of the nozzle. An adhesive flow control device is used to control the flow of adhesive through the nozzle. Adhesive flows through the nozzle and is timed with the deflection device. In one embodiment, the flow of adhesive is started prior to contact with the web. In this manner, treated discrete areas of the adhesive composition can be formed on the web. The treated discrete areas can have lengths that are minimized through the process of the present disclosure allowing for adhesive to be applied at extremely fast speeds.
Cylinder, device and machine for aligning magnetic or magnetizable particles on a web-like or sheet-like substrate
A cylinder is usable, in particular, for aligning magnetic of magnetizable particles, which are contained in a coating medium that is applied to a first side of a web-like or a sheet-like substrate, which cylinder, in the region of its outer circumference, has a plurality of elements effecting a magnetic field, magnetic elements for short. The magnetic elements are arranged in or on a plurality of ring elements that are spaced axially apart from one another and that are positionable in the axial direction on a shaft, in or on which ring elements, in turn, a plurality of magnetic elements are respectively arranged one after the other in the circumferential direction. At least two adjacent ring elements, each have a covering element, forming a part of the cylindrical lateral surface of the cylinder and extending in the circumferential direction, at least over the circumferential region populated with magnetic elements. The covering elements of two ring elements adjacent to each other have, on their sides facing each other in the axial direction, a plurality of projections alternating in the circumferential direction with recesses and offset in a circumferential direction in such a way that, during a relative movement of the two ring elements towards each other, the projections on the covering element of one ring element engage, in the manner of teeth, in corresponding recesses of the other ring element, and, as seen in the circumferential direction, can overlap. A security paper printing machine, having such a cylinder, is also disclosed.
Method for producing a multilayer coating on a metallic substrate
The present invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer coating on a metallic substrate, comprising, in the given order, (1) producing a polyvinyl chloride plastisol layer on the metallic substrate, comprising the application of a polyvinyl chloride plastisol material to the metallic substrate, (2) producing a thermosetting and/or thermoplastic topcoat layer directly on the polyvinyl chloride plastisol layer, comprising the application of a thermosetting and/or thermoplastic coating material directly to the polyvinyl chloride plastisol layer, wherein both the polyvinyl chloride plastisol material and the thermosetting and/or thermoplastic coating material comprise a layered double hydroxide.
HIGH SPEED SEALANT STRIP APPLICATION
An applicator is disclosed for applying sealant to a moving substrate. The applicator includes a wheel having a periphery. A plurality of spaced apart footprints extends around the periphery of the wheel and each footprint has a sealant receiving feature. A reservoir is provided for containing a supply of sealant to be applied to the moving substrate. The wheel is rotatably mounted at least partially in the reservoir such that as the wheel rotates, each of the spaced apart footprints repeatedly moves through a supply of sealant in the reservoir to pick up a charge of sealant, around one side of the wheel toward the moving substrate, adjacent the moving substrate to transfer the sealant charge to the substrate, and around the other side of the wheel back toward the supply of sealant. At least one stop is formed on each of the footprints for inhibiting sealant picked up by the footprint from being urged rearwardly on the footprint by high speed rotation of the wheel. A backstop may be formed at a trailing end of each footprint and mid-stops may be formed between a leading end of each footprint and the trailing end.
Curtain die for applying a liquid release agent to a shingle substrate
An asphalt shingle manufacturing machine that includes a curtain die for applying a liquid release layer on an asphalt coated substrate. The moisture of the liquid release layer evaporates leaving a dispersed solid particulate release layer. The curtain die includes a first body section and a second body section with a shim disposed between the body sections to define a distribution channel. The second body section may include chamber manifold defined therein to store a volume of liquid release agent. The distribution channel places the chamber manifold in fluid communication with a discharge outlet of the curtain die in order to disperse a volume of liquid release agent from a chamber manifold out of the discharge outlet. The shim may be configured to define a width of the distribution channel to determine the flow rate and discharge pattern of the liquid release agent.
