MULTILAYER COATING FILM AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
Provided are a multilayer coating film with pearl luster that is bright in highlight and that has a small change in graininess due to difference in observation directions, and a method for forming the multilayer coating film. The multilayer coating film contains on a substrate in the following sequence a color-pigment-containing colored base coating film, an interference-pigment-containing effect base coating film, and a clear-coat coating film. The multilayer coating film has a Y value (Y5) in the XYZ color space of 300 or more. The multilayer coating film has a ratio of a 15° sparkle area Sa to a 45° sparkle area Sa of 7 or less.
RETROREFLECTIVE SURFACE LAYERS
Techniques related to retroreflective surface layers for micro-mobility transit vehicles are disclosed. A retroreflective surface layer may be formed over at least a portion of a component of a micro-mobility transit vehicle by forming a powder coat layer over the portion of the component and baking the powder coat layer to cure the powder coat layer. An uncured clear coat layer may be formed over the powder coat layer. The uncured clear coat layer may be impregnated with a plurality of glass beads via an air-pressure applicator. The uncured clear coat layer impregnated with the glass beads may be baked to cure the clear coat layer. The retroreflective surface layer may include the powder coat layer, clear coat layer, and the plurality of glass beads distributed within the clear coat layer. The retroreflective surface layer may reflect incident light back to its source with minimal scattering of the light.

METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
A method for forming a multilayer coating film comprising the steps of:
applying, to a substrate, an effect pigment dispersion that comprises water, a surface adjusting agent, a flake-effect pigment, and a rheology control agent, and that has a solids content within the range of 0.5 to 10 mass % to form an effect pigment-containing coating, film; and
applying a colored transparent paint to the effect pigment-containing coating film to form a colored transparent coating film having a total light transmittance at a wavelength of 400 nm to 700 nm of 20 to 70%.
AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION
An aqueous coating composition comprising an acrylic resin dispersion (A) having a core/shell structure and a melamine resin (B) comprising a hydrophobic melamine resin, wherein the acrylic resin dispersion (A) is a dispersion of a solution-polymerization product of a core part preparation monomer (a-1) and a shell part preparation monomer (a-2), wherein the shell part preparation monomer (a-2) comprises an acid group-containing polymerizable monomer. The aqueous coating composition exhibits a small viscosity change and can form a coating film having a superior coating film appearance, even when the amount of the solvent contained in the aqueous coating composition is reduced due to changes in the coating environment.
PRIMER COMPOSITION
A water-based primer composition including (a) a water-based primer component; and (b) a dye component wherein the dye is adapted for providing a visual indication of dryness during the drying process of the water-based primer composition; and wherein the dye undergoes a visual color change when subjected to a drying temperature for visually determining the dryness of a primer film formed from the water-based primer composition.
MULTILAYER COATING FILM FORMATION METHOD
The multilayer coating film formation method for forming a multilayer coating film on a substrate comprises the steps of: applying an undercoat paint composition (X) comprising an antioxidant (a1) to a substrate to form at least one layer of an uncured first coating film; applying a topcoat paint composition (Y) containing a carboxy-containing polymer (b1) and an epoxy-containing acrylic resin (b2) to the first coating film to form an uncured second coating film; and simultaneously heating the uncured first coating film and the uncured second coating film to cure the films.
