APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DEVELOPING FINGERPRINTS AT COOL TEMPERATURES
Method for detecting fingerprints comprising: providing a chamber 1 suitable for containing a substrate 2 suspected of containing a fingerprint; bringing the temperature of the chamber to a target temperature below ambient temperature utilizing a refrigeration unit 3 operatively associated with the chamber; placing the substrate suspected of containing a fingerprint in a suitable location 4 within the chamber and maintaining the substrate therein for a time sufficient to allow the substrate to attain the target temperature; bringing the humidity within the chamber to a target humidity utilizing a nebulizer/humidifier 5 operatively associated with the chamber and employing circulation fan 14 to ensure uniform temperature, humidity and vapor content throughout the chamber; providing a cyanoacrylate powder 6 in the chamber and raising the temperature of the cyanoacrylate powder to a temperature which vaporizes the cyanoacrylate powder utilizing a cyanoacrylate accelerator 7 operatively associated with the chamber. This procedure develops any fingerprints present on the substrate. Subsequently, venting system 12 purges the fumes and then the substrate is removed from the chamber and inspected to visualize any cyanoacrylate-coated fingerprints present.
System for capillary electrophoresis for peptide and protein analysis
A method of coating the inside wall of a capillary with a polymeric material for capillary electrophoresis is disclosed. The method can include introducing a catalyst-free solution of a monomer and initiator, wherein the monomer is present in about 1-10% (w/v) and the initiator is present in 0.1-1% (w/v), into a capillary and thermally initiating polymerization of the monomer thereby providing a capillary comprising an internal polymeric coating for separating, identifying, and quantifying components of an analyte.
Fire Resistant Coatings for Wood Veneer Panels
Methods for treating panels are described that include coating a wood substrate with a polymeric solution, curing the coated wood substrate by subjecting the coated wood to ultraviolet radiation and causing the polymeric solution to crosslink to produce a fire-resistant veneer. Also described is a composite material comprising a wood substrate layer, and a UV-cured flame retardant coating the wood substrate layer, wherein the composite material has a Flame Spread Index values within 0 to 25 and a Smoke Developed Index of 450 or lower.
Thermosetting powder coating material and coated product
A thermosetting powder coating material includes powder particles containing a thermosetting resin, a thermosetting agent, and a surfactant. The amount of the surfactant is about 0.1 ppm or more and about 8.0 ppm or less on a mass basis.
UPPER-LAYER FILM FORMING COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PHASE-SEPARATED PATTERN
An overlay film-forming composition used to cause phase separation to a block copolymer-containing layer formed on a substrate, the composition including: (A) a copolymer that includes (a) a unit structure derived from maleimide structure and a unit structure derived from styrene structure; and (B) an ether compound having 8-16 carbon atoms as a solvent. The overlay film-forming composition exhibits good solubility with respect to a hydrophobic solvent, and is able to induce vertical alignment of a block copolymer without causing dissolution, swelling, and the like of the block copolymer-containing layer formed on the substrate.

LATEX-BONDED METAL AND CEMENT MEMBERS
A dried latex emulsion coating on a surface of a metal member is used as a thin bond layer on well tubular joints, on tubular strings in wells, and on other metal members. The bond layer promotes adhesion to cement members formed from hardening a cement slurry in contact with the bond layer. The bond layer can be used in bonded cement structures, on well tubular joints, on tubular strings in a well, on tubular strings cemented in a well, in methods of making the cement structures and the tubular strings, and in methods of placing and cementing a tubular string in a well.
Durable superhydrophobic coating
A superhydrophobic coating composition is provided comprising an NP component and a radical initiator (RI), wherein the NP component comprises NP particles having organic moieties bound to the surface of the NP particles. Also provided is a superhydrophobic coating composition further comprising a fluid. Also provided is a method for preparing a super-hydrophobic (SH) surface, where the method includes mixing an NP component with at least one RI and possibly with a fluid, thereby providing a coating composition, applying the coating composition onto a substrate (pre-coated or containing oxides) thereby providing a coated substrate; and applying radiation to the coated substrate, thereby providing the SH surface on which at least part of the NP component is covalently bound, directly or indirectly, to the substrate.
