Modular package sorting system

The present invention relates to systems and methods for sorting a wide variety of packages, including, but not limited to, parcels, mail pieces, bundles, and other similar items. Embodiments of the invention specifically relate to interchangeable sorting modules with sort stations that may be used to quickly and accurately sort packages of varying shapes and sizes. Additional embodiments of the invention relate to a control architecture for operating the aforementioned interchangeable sorting modules. Such control architecture may comprise a programmable logic controller (PLC) for controlling each of the interchangeable sorting modules.

Sorting machine

Disclosed is a sorting machine, comprising a rack, two rail units which are both mounted on the rack and are symmetrical to each other, and a sorting cart. The rail units comprise: a transverse rail assembly, wherein the transverse rail assembly comprises a plurality of transverse rails and a plurality of reversing mechanisms, and the transverse rails and the reversing mechanisms are alternately arranged along a straight line; and a plurality of vertical rails which are parallel to each other, wherein the vertical rails and the reversing mechanisms are arranged in one-to-one correspondence. The sorting cart is switched to a rail by means of the reversing mechanisms, and a conveying direction of a conveying assembly is different from a traveling direction of the sorting cart.

Assisted manual mail sorting system for assisting an operator in manual sortation of mailpieces in a sorting station including a plurality of destination bins, the system comprising a headset wearable by the operator and connected to a computer comprising an image analysis software for extracting from an image of one of the mailpieces, a name, an address or other relevant information and a sorting application for determining a corresponding relevant destination bin, the headset comprising: a high resolution camera for capturing the image of the mailpiece, a transparent display for signalling to the operator the relevant destination bin where the article is to be placed by highlighting or overlaying a visual artifact on a view of the sorting station while the operator is looking at the sorting station.

Systems, devices and methods for sorting items

Sorting systems and methods for large quantities of items in industrial processes are described. The systems, devices and methods are for receiving, sorting and removing items dynamically. A first group of items, such as letters or other mail pieces, are injected by a belt into a pocket to a form a first stack, and a progressive displacement divider with amplified output for a given input is extended near the first stack. The divider allows for a second group of items to either be injected to form a second stack behind the divider, or to be diverted and injected into another pocket. The first stack can be removed while the second group is being injected.

Systems and methods for dynamic processing of objects

A method of processing objects is disclosed using a programmable motion device. The method includes the steps of acquiring an object from a plurality of mixed objects at an input area, perceiving identifying indicia in connection with the object, assigning an intermediate station to a destination location for the object responsive to the identifying indicia in connection with the object, and moving the acquired object toward the intermediate station.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING OBJECTS, INCLUDING AUTOMATED MOBILE MATRIX CARRIERS

A processing system for processing objects using a programmable motion device is disclosed. The processing system includes a perception unit for perceiving identifying indicia representative of an identity of a plurality of objects received from an input conveyance system, and an acquisition system for acquiring an object from the plurality of objects at an input area using an end effector of the programmable motion device. The programmable motion device is adapted for assisting in the delivery of the object to an identified processing location. The identified processing location is associated with the identifying indicia and the identified processing location is provided as one of a plurality of processing locations. The system also includes a delivery system for receiving the object in a carrier and for delivering the object toward the identified processing location.

Sorting device

A sorting apparatus is provided. The sorting apparatus includes: at least one set of sorting units; where a sorting unit of the at least one set of sorting units includes: a timing belt, where two ends of the timing belt are fixed; a trolley track arranged in parallel with the timing belt; and a distribution trolley, where the distribution trolley comprises a driving assembly and a guide assembly, the driving assembly comprises a driving motor and a timing belt pulley, the driving motor drives the timing belt pulley to cooperate with the timing belt and move along the timing belt; and the guide assembly of the distribution trolley is configured to cooperate with the trolley track to guide a moving direction of the distribution trolley.
