A method of processing objects is disclosed using a programmable motion device. The method includes the steps of acquiring an object from a plurality of mixed objects at an input area, perceiving identifying indicia in connection with the object, assigning an intermediate station to a destination location for the object responsive to the identifying indicia in connection with the object, and moving the acquired object toward the intermediate station.

Provided is an item sorting system and method. The system includes: a supply end configured to provide a to-be-sorted item in the first area; a moving transport apparatus configured to transport the to-be-sorted item in a second area; and an item receiving apparatus configured to receive the to-be-sorted item in a third area. The second area and the third are arranged in order without overlapping with each other.

Provided is an item sorting system and method. The system includes: a supply end configured to provide a to-be-sorted item in the first area; a moving transport apparatus configured to transport the to-be-sorted item in a second area; and an item receiving apparatus configured to receive the to-be-sorted item in a third area. The second area and the third are arranged in order without overlapping with each other.

Embodiments of a system and method for sorting and sequencing articles in a processing facility are disclosed. Delivery endpoints are divided and grouped into stop groups. A first sorter sorts items according to stop group and outputs the items to trays. The output trays from the first sorter are loaded to a second sorter in stop group order. The second sorter sorts items for each stop group into separate lanes. Each lane can then be sorted into output bins in delivery sequence order.

Embodiments of a system and method for sorting and sequencing articles in a processing facility are disclosed. Delivery endpoints are divided and grouped into stop groups. A first sorter sorts items according to stop group and outputs the items to trays. The output trays from the first sorter are loaded to a second sorter in stop group order. System includes an article supply location that includes a plurality of articles to be sorted, first and second transport vehicles, each having a first position in which an article is stowed about the vehicle and a second position in which the article is deposited into a proximal container, and one or more removal devices that transport the container to a location of further processing. System further includes a control system configured to receive an order for a plurality of disparate articles, determine one destination container of a plurality of destination containers to direct the transport vehicle to deposit a selected article, direct the first transport vehicle to transport a selected article to the destination container, deposit the article in the destination container, and transport the destination container to a location for further processing by manipulation of the removal device.

System includes an article supply location that includes a plurality of articles to be sorted, first and second transport vehicles, each having a first position in which an article is stowed about the vehicle and a second position in which the article is deposited into a proximal container, and one or more removal devices that transport the container to a location of further processing. System further includes a control system configured to receive an order for a plurality of disparate articles, determine one destination container of a plurality of destination containers to direct the transport vehicle to deposit a selected article, direct the first transport vehicle to transport a selected article to the destination container, deposit the article in the destination container, and transport the destination container to a location for further processing by manipulation of the removal device.

Disclosed is a parcel sorting system, it includes a main frame and a sorting tower; the main frame includes a vertically arranged spiral slide and a supporting plate horizontally arranged outside the spiral slide, and the lower end of the spiral slide is provided with a collection bag main outlet. The supporting plate is provided with a collection bag falling port facing the spiral slide; the sorting tower includes a receiving transfer device, a plurality of bagging output devices disposed below the receiving transfer device, and a tower housing disposed below the bagging output device; A plurality of sorting towers are arranged on the supporting plate around the spiral slides, and the collection bag discharge ports of each sorting tower are respectively connected to the falling ports of the collection bags of the supporting plates. The invention which greatly improves sorting efficiency compared to single-pass sorting of existing sorting systems.

A device for sorting objects includes an input conveyor device with a plurality of input storage devices, which are movable in an input conveying direction. A loading station loads each input storage device with one object. An output conveyor device has a plurality of output storage devices, which are movable in an output conveying direction. A sorting end point discharges the objects. A first transfer region, in which the input conveyor device and the output conveyor device are arranged, allows objects to be transferred from the input storage devices into the output storage devices. A second transfer region, separate from the first transfer region, in which the output conveyor device and the sorting end point are arranged transfers objects from the output storage devices to the sorting end point. An additional sorting end point in the second transfer region enables more flexibly operation of the sorting device.
