AUTONOMOUS DATA COLLECTION AND SYSTEM CONTROL FOR MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITIES
Disclosed embodiments include methods and systems for autonomous data collection and system control of a material recovery or recycling facility. In some embodiments, a central control system receives inputs in the form of at least one data stream from each of one or more environmental sensors that reflect the status of a material recovery facility (MRF). The inputs are used to determine the operating status of one or more components of the MRF, and/or composition of a waste stream being processed by the MRF. At least one material handling unit is controlled in response to the inputs to optimize the recovery and/or purity of recyclable or recoverable materials from the waste stream. A service unit or mechanism may also be controlled in response to the inputs indicating that a component of the MRF requires servicing.
EFFICIENT MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITY
An efficient material recovery facility is disclosed, including: a first sorting device configured to: process a first instruction to remove a first target item from a set of items; and in response to the first instruction, perform a first sorting action to remove the first target item from the set of items, wherein the set of items excluding at least the first target item is to be transported towards a second sorting device, wherein the second sorting device is associated with a same sorting device type as the first sorting device; and wherein the second sorting device is configured to perform a second sorting action to remove a second target item from the set of items excluding at least the first target item in response to receiving a second instruction to remove the second target item.
SORTING APPARATUS AND SORTING METHOD
A sorting apparatus has: a paper supply section that supplies paper; a first sensor that detects a multi-feed of the paper supplied from the paper supply section; a second sensor that detects damage to the paper; a third sensor that detects the paper as an image; first to fourth paper ejection cassettes in which the paper is stacked; and a control section that appropriately ejects the paper to one of the first to fourth paper ejection cassettes according to at least one of detection results from the first sensor, second sensor, and third sensor.

In some embodiments, a shopping facility personal assistance system comprises: a plurality of motorized transport units located in and configured to move through a shopping facility space; a plurality of user interface units, each corresponding to a respective motorized transport unit during use of the respective motorized transport unit; and a central computer system having a network interface such that the central computer system wirelessly communicates with one or both of the plurality of motorized transport units and the plurality of user interface units, wherein the central computer system is configured to control movement of the plurality of motorized transport units through the shopping facility space based at least on inputs from the plurality of user interface units.

Systems and methods for classifying materials utilizing one or more sensor systems, which may implement a machine learning system in order to identify or classify each of the materials, which may then be sorted into separate groups based on such an identification or classification. The machine learning system may utilize a neural network, and be previously trained to recognize and classify certain types of materials.

APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MONITORING PRODUCT PLACEMENT WITHIN A SHOPPING FACILITY
Methods and apparatuses are provided for use in monitoring product placement within a shopping facility. Some embodiments provide an apparatus configured to determine product placement conditions within a shopping facility, comprising: a transceiver configured to wirelessly receive communications; a product monitoring control circuit coupled with the transceiver; a memory coupled with the control circuit and storing computer instructions that when executed by the control circuit cause the control circuit to: obtain a composite three-dimensional (3D) scan mapping corresponding to at least a select area of the shopping facility and based on a series of 3D scan data; evaluate the 3D scan mapping to identify multiple product depth distances; and identify, from the evaluation of the 3D scan mapping, when one or more of the multiple product depth distances is greater than a predefined depth distance threshold from the reference offset distance of the product support structure.
Sorting system with multiple sorting devices
A system for sorting waste objects is disclosed. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, the system includes at least one sorting unit, in which the sorting unit is connected to at least one sensor system that identifies the waste objects. The sensor system is arranged to detect one or more waste object characteristics and is also arranged to provide a control system with a signal when a waste object of a desired type is detected. The system also includes at least one sorting conveyor that conveys the waste objects to the sorting unit in which the sorting unit is provided with two or more sorting devices that sort the waste objects. The sorting devices of the present disclosure are arranged to receive at least one signal from the control system in response to a waste object of a desired type being detected by the sensor system.
