System and method for vertically-oriented composting
A system and method for vertically-oriented, modular, automated, emissions-controlled composting. In a preferred embodiment, the system and method involve construction of a vertically-oriented set of composting modules comprising a receiving and offloading level, one or more composting bay levels, a feedstock staging level, a biofilter level, a vertical conveyor for uploading feedstock to the feedstock staging level, a freight and personnel elevator, and a leachate tank. This composting system and method reduces the land area required for composting, increases the capture of emissions from composting, and reduces the labor-intensive and heavy-equipment-intensive nature of current methods.
WASTE TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD BASED ON INTEGRATED NATURAL AND CHEMICAL PROCESSES
A waste treatment plant integrates larvae-based natural processing with chemical processing for transforming animal waste into chemical products. The plant includes a pretreatment unit configured to receive animal waste, moisturize the animal waste with water, provide black soldier fly, BSF, larvae, and load a tray with a mixture of the animal waste, water, and the BSF larvae; a storage room configured to receive the tray and hold the tray between 10 and 14 days; a separation mechanism configured to receive a content of the tray after the 10 to 14 days, and separate the BSF larvae from undigested animal waste; a chitin and protein extraction unit configured to receive the BSF larvae and extract chitin and proteins; and a thermo-processing unit configured to receive the undigested animal waste and extract bio-oil and bio-char.

Thermal pretreatment method and equipment for organic solid waste based on forced hot air convection
A thermal pretreatment method for organic solid waste based on forced hot air convection is performed as follows. Experimental materials are grouped into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group is subjected to thermal pretreatment in a thermal pretreatment device, and then removed. The experimental group and the control group are subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis and physicochemical characterization, and the analysis results are compared. A thermal pretreatment device for organic solid waste based on forced hot air convection is also provided.

TRANSGENIC ANIMALS AND PREPARATIONS THEREOF FOR BIOREMEDIATION
There is provided a transgenic insect comprising a heterologous nucleic acid encoding a fungal laccase wherein the heterologous nucleic acid is integrated in the insect genome, wherein the heterologous nucleic acid is operably linked to a promoter, and expression of the laccase allows for production of an active fungal laccase in the insect. The insect or laccase preparations comprising meal or powder made from the insect are used to reduce or remove phenolic contaminants (such as BPA) or aromatic components (such as indigo dyes) from waste.
Harmless and Recycling Treatment Method for Kitchen Waste
The present disclosure relates to a harmless and recycling treatment method for kitchen waste. The method includes: step S1: sorting the kitchen waste, deodorizing the kitchen waste, and then implementing a solid-liquid separation to the kitchen waste to obtain solid and filtrate; step S2: adjusting pH of the filtrate to 12-13, adding a demulsifier to the filtrate, standing still, recovering an upper layer of oil and obtaining a lower layer of clear liquid; drying and burning the solid obtained in the step S1, to obtain biochar; and step S3: implementing an advanced oxidation treatment and a biochemical treatment to the lower layer of clear liquid obtained in the step S2, to obtain water. The method can effectively recycle the kitchen waste into resources, alleviate the social and environmental problems caused by the current kitchen waste, and the method is suitable for popularization and application.
