FLOCCULANT BASED DISINFECTION PROCESS FOR PATHOGENIC MEDICAL WASTE DISPOSAL

Mismanagement of infectious wastes such as test samples leads to the transmission of microbes/toxins/viruses and spread of contagious and infectious diseases. Adding a flocculating agent to liquid waste reduces the risk of spills and aerosolization. Provide is a flocculating/gelating agent comprising the sol of a selected nanomaterial with a defined weight composition in water and a poly-amino acid (polyglutamic acid), that is capable of instantaneous flocculation/gelation, thereby disinfecting both liquid as well as solid samples, rendering them non-infectious, with >99.9% microbial disinfection. Segregation, transportation and incineration of such disinfected medical wastes are easier, safer and decrease medical waste disposal costs for a healthcare facility.

VOLATILIZATION AND OXIDATION OF ORGANIC WASTE

In a system and process, organic waste is treated in a reactor to volatilize contaminants such as Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) compounds and/or Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) from the organic waste. Biochar may have reduced or undetectable PFAS compounds or CECs. Most or all of the gas may be thermally oxidized to convert PFAS compounds and/or CECs into less harmful and/or less toxic products or elemental compounds, which may be further removed. Energy may be recovered from one or more parts of the herein described system and process.

A zero emission waste system comprising a waste treatment unit that couples to a facility. The waste treatment unit is onsite with the facility either within the facility or local to the facility for treating waste produced by the facility. The waste treatment unit comprises a gasification reactor, a syngas treatment unit, and a synthetic fuel generator for treating and converting waste. The synthetic fuel generator comprises an electrolysis unit and a liquid fuel synthesis unit. The waste treatment unit converts the waste to synthetic fuel, gaseous fuel, oxygen, heat, slag, and other components that are useful to the facility or other entities. The waste treatment system uses carbon dioxide generated during a waste conversion process thereby producing substantially zero emissions and eliminating waste that could be harmful to the environment.

A geogrid prepared by recycling medical waste and a preparation method therefor, and use in foundation reinforcement. The method includes: recycling medical waste for treatment and processing the medical waste into a crushed material; adding modified filler and processing aids, and selecting high-strength fiber bundles for compounding and melting with the crushed material and pressing and stretching to prepare a geogrid. The medical waste is any combination of one or more used medical plastic products and medical plastic products that expire and are not used. The high-strength fiber bundles are more than one bundle of fiber materials commonly used for manufacturing geogrids on the market. The modified filler is a stabilizer for improving the stability of component materials to heat and light. The processing aids are enhancers for improving the performance of the component materials.
