METHOD FOR PREPARING A CELLULOSE DOPE
20240426027 · 2024-12-26 · ·

A method for preparing cellulose dope from textile waste including cellulose fibers in a mass percentage of more than 50%. The method includes shredding the textile waste in order to obtain a first mixture of shredded fibers and residues, separating at least a portion of the non-cellulosic components from the first mixture in order to obtain a second mixture in which the mass percentage of cellulose fibers is greater than the mass percentage of cellulose fibers in the first mixture, filtering the second mixture in order to recover a solid phase including the cellulose fibers, dissolving the cellulose fibers of the solid phase so as to obtain a cellulose dope including undissolved particles, and filtering the cellulose dope in order to obtain a cellulose dope that is separated from the undissolved particles.

EXTRACTION OF ORGANICS FROM WASTE MATERIAL

The present description relates to press extractors for processing municipal solid waste or source separated organics, and can have large perforations for separation of a wet fraction from a liquid depleted fraction. The extractor can also be operated based on a target plug thickness of the liquid-depleted plug left over in the perforated chamber after compression. The extractors can facilitate good organics extraction yields, and lower operating pressures, among other benefits.

Electrochemical conversion of organic waste

The present disclosure refers to a method of electrochemical conversion of organic waste to organic acid and hydrogen, comprising the steps of: (i) subjecting organic waste to ball milling under alkaline or acidic conditions to obtain pre-treated organic waste; (ii) introducing the pre-treated organic waste to a first compartment of an electrochemical cell, wherein the electrochemical cell comprises: the first compartment containing a nickel-based anode, a second compartment containing a cathode, and an electrolyte; and (iii) applying an electrical potential between the anode and the cathode, thereby producing organic acid at the anode, and hydrogen at the cathode. The present disclosure also refers to an organic acid or hydrogen produced from the method disclosed herein.
