CONTAMINANT-EXTRACTION SYSTEM
An apparatus includes a controllable contaminant-extraction system configured to, at least in part, extract an extractable contaminant from a contaminant plume positioned in the soil via an extraction conduit extending in the contaminant plume. A control assembly is configured to control operation of the controllable contaminant-extraction system in such a way that the controllable contaminant-extraction system extracts the extractable contaminant via the extraction conduit by randomly changing, at least in part, a flow rate of the extractable contaminant that is extracted from the contaminant plume.

Soil gas and groundwater remediation system and method
A system for intercepting, treating and venting vapors from contaminated soil in the vadose zone and from contaminated groundwater includes a large borehole and at least one small borehole each having an open top end, a porous liner against the outer wall and porous fill material inside the liner. The fill material can include materials to retard and degrade contaminants in the vapors. The large and small boreholes can have impermeable sections in the liner, and impermeable ground cover around the top ends. The large borehole can also include a slotted aeration tube in the borehole and vegetation planted in the open end of the borehole. A method for intercepting, treating and venting of vapors from contaminated soil in the vadose zone and contaminated groundwater includes the system and pulling vapors out the top end of the large borehole with variations in atmospheric barometric pressure.

Systems and methods for controlling extraction of landfill gas from a landfill via a gas extraction system are provided herein. According to some aspects of the technology, there is provided site-level control methods for globally controlling one or more wells based on one or more characteristics of aggregate landfill gas collected from a plurality of wells at a gas output. According to some aspects of the technology, there is provided well-level control methods for locally controlling a first well based on or more characteristics of landfill gas collected from the first well. According to further aspects of the technology, there is provided hybrid control methods for making adjustments to a respective well based on both site-level and well-level control methods.
A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REMEDIATING A WELLBORE
A system and method is disclosed for contaminant extraction from a contaminated region of a borehole. The system includes a production pipe extending from a surface of the earth through a water permeable layer and into an underlying production zone. A side remediation borehole is located proximate the borehole and extends through the water permeable layer towards the production zone, the side remediation borehole including a remediation pipe. A vacuum source is in fluid communication with the side remediation borehole, the vacuum source being configured to extract gaseous contaminants from the side remediation borehole and the region of the borehole.
