SOIL REMEDIATION FACILITY AND SOIL REMEDIATION METHOD USING THE SAME
A soil remediation facility includes a first screen apparatus including a vibratory screen, a drum mixer apparatus mixing the contaminated soil with a diluent, a saturated steam and hot water, a scrubbing apparatus including a mixing container and an impeller, a second screen apparatus including a vibratory screen. The facility further includes a floatation apparatus which adds a chemical agent for generating bubbles to the soil mixture, injects an air into the soil mixture to desorb contaminants from the soil mixture, and separates the desorbed contaminants by causing the desorbed contaminants to float. The facility further includes a hydro-cyclone apparatus which swirls substances contained in the soil mixture to sort the substances depending on a particle size and a desilter which swirls substances in the soil mixture at a higher angular velocity than an angular velocity in the hydro-cyclone apparatus to sort the substances.
METHOD OF UTILIZING CONTAMINATED WATER
A method of utilizing contaminated water for soil stabilization operations or for the preparation of aggregates for use in asphaltic mix designs. A method where soil is evaluated for a soil typed and characteristic and a classified mixture of contaminated water is selected based on the soil type and characteristics. A reagent is selected based on the soil type and characteristics and the selected water mixture. The reagent and water mixture are then mixed to form a modified calcium hydroxide that is then applied to the soil.
A method where an aggregated is desired to have better adherent qualities within the mix design for better performance is selected and the surface water reduced/removed through the use of a select reagent and contaminated water.

CONTAMINANT-EXTRACTION SYSTEM
An apparatus includes a controllable contaminant-extraction system configured to, at least in part, extract an extractable contaminant from a contaminant plume positioned in the soil via an extraction conduit extending in the contaminant plume. A control assembly is configured to control operation of the controllable contaminant-extraction system in such a way that the controllable contaminant-extraction system extracts the extractable contaminant via the extraction conduit by randomly changing, at least in part, a flow rate of the extractable contaminant that is extracted from the contaminant plume.

Methods for remediating contaminated soil and groundwater using solid-phase organic materials
Systems and methods for treating contaminated soil and groundwater are contemplated. An aqueous slurry may be formulated from particles of solid-phase organic materials having particle sizes between 0.1 and 100 microns, which serve as organic electron donors which may biodegrade subsurface contaminants. The aqueous slurry is injected into an environmental subsurface at a pressure lower than the fracture pressure of the subsurface, which will result in a more uniform distribution of the slurry throughout the subsurface, rather than concentrated deposition of the solid-phase organic materials at points along the fractures, and will also tend to reduce disruption of the architecture of the soil matrix, increasing the utility of the remediated soil and preventing an increase in the rates of generation and efflux of methane and nitrous oxide from the soil to the atmosphere.
METHOD AND MEANS FOR TREATMENT OF SOIL
Disclosed is a method for introducing a liquid, preferably aqueous, into a volume of a porous medium (typically clay or clay-rich soil), which has a matrix hydraulic conductivity below 10.sup.−7 m/s, comprising establishing at least one frozen section and at least one non-frozen section of said volume and introducing said liquid into said non-frozen section. Also disclosed is a method for remediation of a volume of such a porous medium as well as a system/assembly suitable for carrying out said method.
