System and Method for Orienting the Rolling Direction of an End Shell in a Metal Container Manufacturing Process
A system and method of orienting the rolling direction of metallic objects is provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to systems and methods used to align the rolling direction of metallic objects in a predetermined orientation in a high-speed manufacturing system. The rolling direction is determined by sensing grinding marks on the metallic objects. The metallic objects may subsequently be formed by tools that have been adapted to work with, or transverse to, the rolling direction. Optionally, the tools may form the metallic objects into container end closures adapted to seal a container of a predetermined size and type.

COILER DEVICE AND GATE DEVICE PROVIDED WITH GUIDE UNIT
This gate device is provided with a guide unit having a guide section that is disposed at the downstream side of pinch rollers at a path line along which a metal sheet is conveyed, opens/closes a coil-up line that is curved from the path line, and guides the upwards-facing surface side of the metal sheet led in to the coil-up line. A configuration is adopted such that the guide unit has a main body frame and a liner that is attached to the main body frame, forms at least a portion of the second guide surface that guides the metal sheet, has a lower coefficient of friction than the main body frame, and has a lower hardness than that of the metal sheet.
Device and method for laterally guiding a rolled or cast product on a transport track
The invention relates to a device (1) and a method for laterally guiding a slab (2) on a transport track (3), comprising a first guide rule (4) and a second guide rule (5). The guide rules (4, 5) are arranged opposite each other on both sides of the transport track (3) and are each connected to at least one actuating drive (6) so as to move in a direction of a width of the transport track (3). The actuating drive can be actuated perpendicularly to the transport direction (7) of the slab (2), wherein the respective longitudinal axis (4.sub.L, 5.sub.L) of the first guide rule (4) and/or the second guide rule (5) can be positioned at a specified angle () relative to the transport direction (7) of the slab (2). The first and/or the second guide rule (4, 5) has at least one contact roller (8) which can be brought into contact with a lateral edge of the slab (2) in order to guide and/or compress the slab (2).

STRIP DEFLECTOR AND ROLL ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to a strip deflector for deflecting a rolling medium from the surface of a metal strip. The invention further relates to a roll assembly, comprising a roll, adjacent to which the strip deflector is placed at a distance, and comprising the strip deflector according to the invention. The strip deflector consists substantially of a main body, in which a compressed-air chamber and a nozzle (116) connected to the compressed-air chamber in a flow-conducting manner are formed. The nozzle (116) comprises a first nozzle channel segment (116-I) connected to the compressed-air chamber (114) and a second nozzle channel segment (116-II) connected downstream. According to the invention, in order to improve the sealing action of the strip deflector with respect to the roll in a roll stand, the side wall (116-I-2) facing away from the tip (112) of the main body (110) is bent away from the tip (112) of the strip deflector, a second separation edge (119) thus being formed at the end of the second nozzle channel segment (116-II).
