A straightening system is provided to perform straightening in conformity with a shape pattern of a the material. The straightening system includes a cooling device configured to spray a cooling fluid in a predetermined pattern with respect to a plurality of regions of the material, divided in a width direction, to cool the material that is heated in a heating furnace and then passes through a rolling mill. The straightening system also includes a straightening device configured to straighten the material passed through the cooling device. The straightening system further includes a flatness measuring system configured to measure flatness of the material passed through the cooling device and a controller configured to receive data of the flatness of the material from the flatness measuring system and to control the cooling device in response to the data to enhance the flatness of the material.

A cooling-water injection control device and a cooling-water injection control method for a rolling mill suppress influence by change in flow rate characteristics of water injection headers. The cooling-water injection control device for a rolling mill includes a water injection amount control unit. When a plurality of water injection headers are controlled to make temperature of a material to be rolled on a delivery side of a rolling mill coincident with a target value, in a case where a flow rate of any one of the plurality of water injection headers is less than a transient flow rate between a minimum flow rate and a maximum flow rate, the water injection amount control unit controls a flow rate of any one of the plurality of water injection headers based on priority.

Provided herein are systems and methods for removing a viscous material from a material article. In particular, a viscous material removal system can include a seal and a biasing mechanism. The viscous material removal system can also serve as a viscous material containment system. The systems can provide viscous material removal from planar and non-planar articles, as well as articles having surface irregularities or a topography including ridges and valleys. A method for removing viscous materials can include contacting the seal to the material article, maintaining contact of the seal across a width of the material article via the biasing mechanism, and passing the material article over the seal, thus removing the viscous material from the material article.

Cooling of an obliquely positioned flat rolled product
A flat rolled metal product (1) is first hot-rolled in at least one rolling stand (2), then fed to a cooling zone (5) arranged downstream of the rolling stand (2) and finally cooled in the cooling zone (5). During the rolling in the rolling stand (2), the flat rolled product (1) is oriented horizontally. Before running into the cooling zone (5) and/or when running into the cooling zone (5), the flat rolled product (1) is turned by a first acute angle (a) about an axis running in the transporting direction (x), so that after completion of the turning about the axis the flat rolled product (1) is oriented obliquely. The flat rolled product (1) is cooled in the cooling zone (5) while it is oriented obliquely. The product (1) is then returned to horizontal orientation.

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a flame treatment device which is capable of performing a flame treatment on a metal-based base material without requiring a preheat treatment. For the purpose of solving the above-described problem, a flame treatment device according to the present invention comprises: a first temperature measurement unit which measures the temperature of a metal-based base material before a flame treatment; a control unit which determines the combustion energy of flame on the basis of the temperature before a flame treatment, said temperature having been measured by the first temperature measurement unit, so that the surface temperature of the metal-based base material during the flame treatment is 56 C. or higher; and a flame treatment unit which performs a flame treatment on the metal-based base material on the basis of the combustion energy, which has been determined by the control unit.
A SIDE SPRAY METHOD FOR COOLING THE STEEL STRIP AFTER HOT ROLLING
Aside spray method for cooling the steel strip after hot rolling, comprising the following steps: a) providing side spray devices (30, 30, 30) behind each of cooling sections after hot rolling (20, 20, 20), the side spray devices being staggered along the two sides of an run out roller table (10), each side spray device comprising at least two spray units, each spray unit comprising spray tubes (2, 2, 2) and nozzles on the tubes, the spray tubes being in parallel and vertically arranged along running direction of the steel strip, the covering ranges of adjacent nozzles are partially overlapped, and a total spray coverage of nozzles covers the width of the entire run out roller table; side spray water collecting devices (40, 40, 40) are provided on the other side of the run out roller table that is opposite to side spray devices, so that side spray water being collected by the water collecting devices; b) controlling the side spray devices in a mode of open-in-pairs, i.e., side spray devices on either side of the run out roller table must be started simultaneously. The side spray method can effectively purge the residual water on the surface of steel strip having different width specifications, improves the cooling uniformity, and reduces splashes as far as possible to avoid adverse effects on the environment and electrical equipment.
