A rolling mill has a rolling stand (1) in which a flat rolled product (2) composed of metal is rolled. A sensor device (6), which detects at least one measured variable (M) characteristic of a material property of the flat rolled product (2), is arranged upstream and/or downstream of the rolling stand (1). The material property can be, in particular, an electromagnetic property or a mechanical property of the rolled product (2). The sensor device (6) transfers the detected measured variable (M) to a control device (9) for the rolling mill. Taking into account the measured variable (M), the control device (9) determines a control value (A) for the rolling stand (1). The control of the rolling stand (1) influences the material property of the flat rolled product (2). The control value (A) is a ratio of the peripheral speeds (vO, vU) at which the upper and the lower working rolls (3, 4) of the rolling stand (1) rotate.

A method for setting a rolling mill, the method being executed before reduction position zero point adjustment or before the start of rolling, and including: a first process of setting rolls in an open state, and with respect to each of the upper roll assembly and the lower roll assembly, adjusting positions of roll chocks in a rolling direction based on a torque acting on the work roll or a vertical roll load difference; and a second process of, after the first process, setting rolls in a kiss roll state, measuring a vertical roll load in two rotational states on a work side and a drive side, and moving roll chocks of a roll assembly on the opposite side to a reference roll simultaneously and in a same direction so that the vertical roll load difference falls within an allowable range to thereby adjust the positions of the roll chocks.
Plate thickness control device and plate thickness control method
A plate thickness control device controlling plate thickness of a hot rolling mill that includes a rolling stand. The plate thickness control device includes: a pyrometer disposed on an entry side of the rolling stand; a difference calculation part that outputs a difference temperature between a lock-on temperature of the plate-to-be-rolled measured by the pyrometer and a measurement value of a portion other than a tip portion of the plate-to-be-rolled measured by the pyrometer; a tracking part that transfers the difference temperature from the position of the pyrometer to immediately below the rolling stand based on plate speed of the plate-to-be-rolled; and a computation part that calculates a screw-down amount of the rolling stand based on the difference temperature transmitted from the tracking part.
CASTING PROCESS FOR ALUMINIUM ALLOYS
A process for manufacturing an aluminum-based alloy sheet directly from a molten aluminum-based alloy is described. In a continuous caster, such as a belt-caster, and directly from the molten aluminum-based alloy, a substantially solid and substantially thin aluminum-based alloy strip, thinner than about 10 mm, is continuously cast and simultaneously cooled with a compression force on the solidifying aluminum-based alloy in a range of about 2 to about 3000 pounds per linear inch of alloy strip width. The substantially solid aluminum-based alloy strip can then be rolled, so as to obtain the aluminum-based alloy sheet. The process can include pulse heating the aluminum-based allowed sheet.
Embossing for electro discharge textured sheet
An apparatus and method for applying an EDT texture to an aluminum sheet has a rolling stand with at least one EDT surfaced roll capable of rolling the sheet at reductions <1%. The rolling is conducted with residual or no lubrication and imparts a texture on the scale of about 1 μm to the surface of the sheet at low roll force.

The adjustment of the edging roll can be actuated on each side hydraulically by a fluid. The adjusting cylinder quick-action adjustment is mounted in the edger upright and exerts the force required for the edging process. The adjusting cylinder quick-action adjustment includes on each side of the edging upright at least one double cylinder which has two cylinders coupled to one another and is separately controllable and configured for rapid adjustment and for control adjustment of the edging roll.
METHODS FOR PRODUCING METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE STRIP PRODUCT
Methods for producing a coiled strip of metal matrix composite (MMC) material are disclosed. The methods include a combination of hot rolling and warm rolling processes that reduce the thickness of the input material and increase its ductility. The resulting MMC strip can be coiled, which is useful for high volume coil-to-coil applications.

The present embodiments provide a metal lithium strip, a prelithiated electrode plate, and a prelithiation process. The metal lithium strip comprises a lithium substrate and a metal element doped in the lithium substrate, the metal element comprises at least two of magnesium, boron, aluminum, silicon, indium, zinc, silver, calcium, manganese and sodium; and the metal lithium strip has a strength a, a width w, and a thickness h, satisfying: σ.sup.2-(w/105h).sup.2>0. In the present application, the strength of the lithium strip is adjusted by the doping of the metal elements; meanwhile, the strength of the adjusted lithium strip is matched with its width and thickness ensuring that in the process of rolling the metal lithium strip to a reasonable thickness, the phenomenon of edge cracking of the lithium strip is avoided, lithium metal resources and production costs can be saved, a uniform pre-lithiation effect for electrode plate can also be achieved.
