Method for cleaning an extrusion die
A method of cleaning an extrusion die from residual metal remaining after an extrusion process at a temperature below 600 C. and of recovering the residual metal includes providing a thrust member with at least one portion made of a polymeric material at the extrusion die; reciprocally moving the thrust member and the die; removing polymeric material not flowed out of the die during the preceding step; mechanically and/or chemically removing the residual metal not flowed out from the die during the moving step; and opening the extrusion die. The polymeric material in the moving step has a water content lower than 7% by weight with respect to the total weight of the polymeric material. During the moving step, the polymeric material is at least partially in a plastic deformation condition or melted so as to occupy the volume of the residual metal flowed out of the extrusion die.
Die-slide device of extrusion press
An extrusion press die-slide device is equipped with: a fixed frame; a moveable frame that can move linearly but which is supported by the fixed frame in a non-rotatable manner; a first motion conversion mechanism that converts input rotational motion to linear motion and outputs the same to cause the moveable frame to move linearly with respect to the fixed frame; and a second motion conversion mechanism attached to the moveable frame and equipped with a pusher to impart a pressing force to a die of the extrusion press, and which transmits the input rotational motion to the first motion conversion mechanism and converts the input rotational motion to linear motion and outputs the same to cause the pusher to move linearly with respect to the moveable frame.
Butt retrieval system
A butt retrieval system having a butt retrieval receptacle supported outside the main footprint of an extrusion press such that maintenance and/or repair of the system is simplified. The butt retrieval system includes a butt retrieval receptacle moveable between a butt retrieving position and a butt unloading position. The butt retrieval receptable has a cantilevered arm extending from a base portion of the butt retrieval receptacle in a direction towards the centerline of the associated extrusion press.

Extrusion press
A shear device (21) of an extrusion press having a booster mechanism using an air cylinder or electric motor to supplement thrust to an amount corresponding to hydraulic pressure is provided. A fastening part pressing against a die stack (4) is configured by a booster mechanism using a lever and a shear guide (24) is pressed against a horseshoe (13) to fasten it in the extrusion direction. Further, a clearance between a surface of the die stack and a shear knife can be held constant. Also, a booster mechanism using a lever is employed for a tilt mechanism for the shear guide in the extrusion press.

Extrusion apparatus
An extrusion apparatus includes an extruder, a run-out table that supports an extruded material that has been extruded from the extruder, a feed roller and a pulling roller that are provided at a given interval so as to be able to come in rolling contact with the extruded material that is situated on the run-out table, and a cooling section that cools the extruded material between the feed roller and the pulling roller, wherein the feed roller and the pulling roller apply a tensile force to the extruded material while the extruded material advances from the feed roller to the pulling roller.
