Coiling device with asymmetric cooling of the coiled strip
For a rolled metal strip, in particular a steel strip; a drive roller unit deflects the metal strip from a first transportation direction to a second transportation direction, and the strip is then fed to a coiler. The metal strip is coiled in the coiler to form a coil having a coil diameter. Plastic deformation of an end portion of the metal strip is caused such that the end portion in its uninfluenced state is curved at a curvature radius. The plastic deformation of the end portion (8) is at least partially caused by an asymmetric impingement with a cooling medium (21) on the sides of the end portion (8). The impingement of the end portion (8) with the cooling medium (21) is performed across a length of the end portion (8) that is longer than half the outermost coiling of the coil (6) but smaller than the outermost coiling of the coil (6).

ROLL-BONDED BODY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
[Problem] To provide: a roil-bonded body which is able to be suppressed in waviness in the surface; and a method for producing this roil-bonded body. [Solution] A roll-bonded body according to the present invention is obtained by bonding a first metal layer and a second metal layer with each other by means of rolling, and is characterized in that the surface of the first metal layer has an arithmetic average waviness (Wa.sub.1) 0.01-0.96 and a maximum waviness height (Wz.sub.1) of 0.2-5.0 m.
Process for producing a high-grade steel tube and high-grade steel tube
A process for producing a high-grade steel tube includes the steps of: providing a tubular blank of an austenitic high-grade steel, wherein the high-grade steel comprises in weight % no more than 0.02% carbon, no more than 1.0% manganese, no more than 0.03% phosphor, no more than 0.015% sulfur, no more than 0.8% silicon, no more than 17.5% t to 18.5% nickel, no more than 19.5% to 20.5% chromium, no more than 6.0% to 6.5% molybdenum, no more than 0.18% to 0.25% nitrogen, no more than 0.5% to 1.0% copper, and a remainder of iron and unavoidable impurities; and cold-forming the blank into a tube.
Plunge slitting with enhanced scrap threading capability using notching shears
A slitting machine for threading scrap material includes first and second arbors; rotary knives disposed on each of the first and second arbors; and a pair of notching modules positioned on opposite ends of the first and second arbors. The notching modules each has a pair of shear knives for making multiple cuts in a strip of material passing through the slitting machine forming notches to enable threading of material to scrap chutes from the slitting machine.
Progressive processing method
A method of progressive processing includes feeding a strip-shaped sheet to a press machine; pressing the strip-shaped sheet with the press machine; and joining the strip-shaped sheet with a new strip-shaped sheet by applying a tape over an end of the strip-shaped sheet located in a direction opposite a direction in which the strip-shaped sheet is fed and an end of the new strip-shaped sheet located in a direction in which the new strip-shaped sheet is fed.

Cut-To-Length Steel Coil Processing Line With Slurry Blasting Descaling Unit
A cut-to-length line for processing coiled sheet metal having a thickness of greater than 0.200 inches has an uncoiler, a descaler, and flattening machinery which may be a stretcher leveler or a temper mill. The line is operated in an advancement mode by (i) the advancing the sheet metal through the line; and (ii) descaling the sheet metal in the descaler. In one aspect, when a length of sheet metal to be stretch leveled is positioned in the stretcher leveler, the line may be operated in an idle mode by: (i) stopping the advancement of the sheet metal from the uncoiler through the descaler; (ii) stopping descaling of the sheet metal in the descaler; and (iii) stretch leveling the length of the sheet metal. When stretch leveling is complete, the line may be operated in the advancement mode.
