Machine for the working of tubes provided with a device for detecting any slippage of the tube being worked
The machine comprises a working apparatus arranged to carry out the working operation on a tube, or a similar blank, and a tube feeding device arranged to feed the tube towards the working apparatus. The working apparatus and the tube feeding device comprise respective clamping members for clamping the tube being worked. According to the invention, at least one of the clamping members of the working apparatus or of the tube feeding device is provided with a displacement sensor arranged to detect and measure any movements of the tube relative to said clamping member while the tube is clamped by said clamping member during the working operation.
Two-stage plunger press systems and methods for forming battery cell tabs
Presented are metalworking systems for forming metallic workpieces, methods for making/operating such systems, and battery packs with cell terminals bent by a two-stage plunger press. A metalworking system includes a first plunger with a plunger cavity extending through the first plunger's body, and one or more die cavities recessed into the first plunger's contact face. The die cavity includes one surface that contacts and bends a first workpiece a first angle, and another surface that contacts and bends a second workpiece a second angle. A second plunger includes one or more die cavities recessed into the second plunger's contact face. This die cavity includes one surface that contacts and bends the first workpiece a third angle, and another surface that contacts and bends the second workpiece a fourth angle. The second plunger passes through the plunger cavity such that the first and second plungers bend the metallic workpieces in tandem.

Vibration assisted free form fabrication
Systems and methods for forming a workpiece are disclosed. The system may include a fixture assembly for receiving a workpiece having opposing first and second surfaces, first and second tools, and a vibration source configured to vibrate the first and/or second tool. The first and second tools may be configured to move along first and second predetermined paths of motion as the first and/or second tool is vibrated by the vibration source and may exert force on the first and second surfaces to form the workpiece. The method may include vibrating a tool using a vibration source and moving the vibrating tool and another tool along first and second forming paths to form the workpiece. The vibration source may be an ultrasonic transducer and may vibrate the tool at a frequency of at least 1 kHz.
FORMING HOOPS FOR GROW HOUSES
A tube bending system having a frame, one or more static dies, one or more sliding dies and one or more motors for bending tubes, such as metal tubes, in the form of hoops to create a framework for a greenhouse. The system may include separately leveled frames including a central frame supporting the middle of an arch die, and a pair of lateral frames supporting the lateral sides of the die. An apex clamp on the central frame holds the middle of a straight tube blank against the arch die, while a pair of bending carriages on the lateral frames are displaced to bend the tube blank around the arch die. The apex clamp may move both vertically and longitudinally to cycle between holding the tube blank against the arch die, ejecting the bent tube from the die, and retracting to enable placement of another straight tube.
