A seat connection mechanism having a bracket portion which is metal and includes a pivot area, an opening and a channel. A metal pin portion includes a pin and a stop portion, the pin rests in the pivot area such that the shelf portion inhibits movement of the pin portion along the pin's rotation axis, the pin configured to rotate within the pivot area about a rotation axis. The channel in the bracket portion arranged to pass adjacent and through an area of the center pivot, the channel arranged such that the stop portion of the pin portion are insertable into the channel through the opening at an insertion angle to allow the pin to rest in the pivot area and such that when the pin rotates within the center pivot, the stop portion of the pin portion moves within the bracket and the stop portion is configured to interact with the bracket at one or more predefined positions to stop rotation of the pin portion.

A flat plate based system for securing legs to a chair is provided wherein a chair support has two catches and two leg pieces each have a tab at one end, the tab configured to interact with one of the two catches, each leg piece including an opening through which a tension member passes. Anchor pieces are configured to secure to the tension member such that the tension member pulls the anchor pieces together. The leg pieces each have an edge such that the edges face each other and the tabs interact with the catches and the tension member is positioned in the opening and the anchor pieces and tension member pull the edges together to hold the tabs against the two catches.

A method and apparatus include attaching a lighted cup holder to a seating arrangement. The lighted cup holder includes a cup holder body and a light-producing light source, with the cup holder body being attached to the seating arrangement and having a cup receptacle therein, the light-producing source being disposed within the cup receptacle for illuminating the receptacle. A light-sensitive element operatively connected to the light source selectively controls production of light by the light source in such a manner that illumination of the cup holder is provided only under conditions where visibility is reduced to the point that it becomes difficult to locate the cup holder. The light-sensitive element is mounted on a master lighted cup holder and controls illumination of the master lighted cup holder and one or more slave lighted cup holders operatively connected to the master lighted cup holder.

A method and apparatus include attaching a lighted cup holder to a seating arrangement. The lighted cup holder includes a cup holder body and a light-producing light source, with the cup holder body being attached to the seating arrangement and having a cup receptacle therein, the light-producing source being disposed within the cup receptacle for illuminating the receptacle. A seating management system having a plurality of chairs, each chair having a code scanner, an object detection sensor, a motor, and a communication device in operative communication with a central management server. The central management server is configured to pre-assign a reservation code for each of the chairs, assign each of the invited guests to a chair, cause an invitation to be sent to each of said invited guests, and analyze the invited guest responses. The server is then configured to activate the plurality of chairs, send the corresponding reservation code to each guest whose response accepted the invitation, and cause the motor of the respective activated chair to move said chair when the central management server receives a reservation code corresponding to said chair.

A volumetrically efficient mechanism for raising and lowering sitting assemblies to provide ready access below them. A scissors assembly is selectively moved from a collapsible to an extended (raised) configuration by an electric motor with a telescopic arm that acts on hingedly mounted U-shape frames. The distal ends of the frames include wheels that ride over a lower support assembly. The telescopic arm is mounted to one of the distal upper member of the frames and the motor is rigidly mounted to the upper end of the other U-shape frame or to the lower support assembly causing them to selectively move between the two extreme configurations.
