Fitting collar and tube-fitting assemblies incorporating fitting collars

A collar for having in cross-section a generally triangular filler section and a generally rectangular outer section over the filler section. The collar may be part of a tube assembly where the collar serves to couple a fitting to tube. A method of installing the collar includes pressing the collar over the outer surface of the tubing until the strain on the collar in the hoop direction is at a predetermined level.

Dieless crimping tool
11108205 · 2021-08-31 · ·

A crimping tool with a housing, a motor, a switch connected to the motor for activating the motor, a pump driven by the motor, a piston driven by the pump, an indenter operably connected to the piston, and a tool head connected to the housing, wherein a workpiece can be disposed between the tool head and the indenter. A current sensor is connected to the motor for sensing current flowing through the motor. A processor receives current data from the current sensor, the processor analyzing the current data to determine completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition. A display connected to the processor can indicate completion of a crimping operation and/or an error condition.

Guide tube retainment feature during crimping of guide tubes

A method for making an air spring assembly, including the steps of providing a bellow, a support ring, and a guide tube. The support ring is positioned relative to a bellow adapter such that a portion of the bellow adapter extends through the support ring. The bellow is then positioned such that a portion of the bellow extends over the support ring and a portion of the bellow adapter. The guide tube is then positioned relative to the bellow and the support ring, such that a portion of the bellow extends into the guide tube and the guide tube is supported by the bellow adapter, and a portion of the guide tube is supported by a ridge support fixture. The first clamp and second clamp are then moved towards the guide tube, applying force to the guide tube, simultaneously forming a first crimp and a second crimp.

SOUND ATTENUATOR FOR A FLUID FLOW LINE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A sound attenuator has an inner pipe (12) with expansion sections (121) of enlarged diameter corresponding to the constriction sections (141) of an outer pipe (14). The expansion sections (121) in pairs axially delimit an intermediate inner pipe section (122) containing a wall opening (18) and having a reduced diameter relative to the expansion sections (121). The inner surface of the outer pipe (14) in each of its constriction sections (141) is connected to the outer surface of the inner pipe (12) in its respective corresponding expansion section (121). A method of manufacturing such a sound attenuator (10) also is provided and uses internal high-pressure forming.

SWAGE TOOL
20210154725 · 2021-05-27 ·

A swage mechanism operable to expand an inner diameter of tubing including a housing defining a longitudinal axis, and a plurality of jaws coupled to the housing and movable radially outward relative to the longitudinal axis for selectively gripping an interior of the tubing. The jaws each include a first cam surface. The swage mechanism further includes a ram having a cylindrical portion and a frusto-conical head portion, and an arbor that is coupled to the housing and having a second cam surface. The frusto-conical head portion of the ram is insertable into the tubing to expand the inner diameter of the tubing. The second cam surface of the arbor is engageable with the first cam surface of each of the jaws to move the jaws toward or away from the longitudinal axis, wherein the second cam surface moves in a direction along the longitudinal axis.
