Forming system

A disclosed forming system is a forming system which expands and forms a metal pipe in a die. The forming system includes a preliminary forming apparatus which preliminarily forms a metal pipe material, a forming apparatus which includes a gas supply unit which supplies gas into the preliminary-formed and heated metal pipe material to expand the metal pipe material and a main body portion to which the die is attached, and a cutting device which cuts at least a portion of the formed metal pipe. The gas supply unit is provided so as not to be disposed on a first straight line which connects the preliminary forming apparatus and the main body portion in a plan view and a second straight line which connects the cutting device and the main body portion in a plan view.

The method includes the steps of providing a hollow profile; cutting at least one predeterminable hole or slug contour path into the hollow profile by means of a cutting device; leaving a residual web of the hole or slug contour path; moving a receiving device into the hollow profile; moving a punch from a first position into a residual-web-removing second position in such a way that the slug thereby produced is received by the receiving device; and moving the receiving device out of the hollow profile.

The plant comprises a stretching machine configured to cut and stretch a metal sheet to form one of a plurality of first expanded metal sheets, a calibration machine configured to roll the first expanded metal sheets to a desired thickness, a sheet storage unit configured to directly receive each of the first expanded metal sheets rolled in the calibration machine, a forming machine configured to form each of the first expanded metal sheets to form the expanded metal sheets comprising periodic deformations, and a stacking machine configured to stack the expanded metal sheets comprising periodic deformations to form the structured cross-channel packing element. The sheet storage unit is configured to release the first expanded metal sheets directly to the forming machine.

The problem of the variation in welding quality encountered when welding thin and wide strip-shaped sheets together is resolved and the strip-shaped sheet is fed smoothly.
