Anti-shearing connection of structural members
10662641 · 2020-05-26 · ·

A hanger for connecting a structural member to a structural support including a base sized and shaped for receiving the structural member thereon. First and second side panels extend upward from the base. First and second back panels each extend from a respective one of the side panels. First and second top flanges each extend from a respective one of the back panels. An opening in one of said first and second side panels and said first and second back panels is configured to receive a fastener to attach the hanger to one of the structural member and the structural support. A slot is adjacent the opening. An area between the opening and the slot defines a yieldable portion selected to deform at a load that is less than the shear load capacity of the fastener when received through the opening for connecting the hanger to one of the structural member and the structural support.

A foldable mounting collar includes first and second collar segments. Each collar segment includes a planar annular segment that substantially subtends a semicircle, a collar flange that, when the planar annular segment is horizontal, extends vertically downward along an inner periphery of the planar annular segment, such that the collar flange forms a cylindrical portion, and two hinge flanges that, when the planar annular segment is horizontal, extend upwardly from each end of the semicircle formed by each planar annular segment. The mounting collar further includes pivot means that hingedly couple pairs of the hinge flanges of the collar segments. The second collar segment can rotate, relative to the first collar segment, through at least a polar angle range sufficient for the mounting collar to fit through an aperture having a diameter defined by the cylindrical portions of the collar flanges when both collar segments are horizontal.

METHOD FOR RELEASABLY SECURING A SINK STRAINER
20200141101 · 2020-05-07 ·

A method for releasably securing a sink strainer in a drain hole of a sink by providing a lock nut having a split defined by a pair of opposed surfaces and a locking system comprising a pair of opposed tabs attached to the outer surface of the lock nut with one tab on one side of the split having a threaded hole spaced perpendicularly with respect to the opposed surfaces for receiving a threaded fastener and a second tab attached to the outer surface of the lock nut on the opposite side of the split in opposed spaced relationship to the first tab. The second tab having a hole in axisymmetric spaced relationship to the threaded hole with a diameter of sufficient size to allow a threaded fastener to pass therethrough, and a threaded fastener positioned within the axisymmetric spaced hole and arranged to pass through the hole in the second tab and securely engage the threaded hole in the first tab. When engaged, the threaded fastener holds the opposed surfaces in mating relationship during normal use, and when removed, provide for the lock nut to release from its position in response to application of an external force.

A stamped pin cap and method of manufacturing the same. There is a frame coupling together a mount, a stop flange and a cradle. The mount couples to a reinforced bar (rebar) as used in construction and the cradle receives a construction pipe, thereby coupling the construction pipe to the rebar. The cradle, in cooperation with the stop flange may mount to lumber. The stamped pin cap requires no welding or expensive molded materials and thereby may be produced cheaply and quickly.
