PRESS FORMING METHOD FOR A SEMI-SOLID METAL MATERIAL AND PRESS FORMING APPARATUS FOR A SEMI-SOLID METAL MATERIAL
Provided is a press forming method for a semi-solid material, including: a semi-solid material carrying step of carrying a semi-solid material into a lower die; a first press forming step of regulating, under a Z-direction regulation state in which a change in the Z direction's dimension corresponding to a pressing direction is regulated by an upper die, a change in one of the dimensions in X and Y directions by compressing the material with a transverse punch so that the one becomes equal to a dimension of the product, and then stopping the punch at a position of the compression; and a second press forming step of moving, under a state in which the change in the one is regulated in the above step, the upper die in the pressing direction to compress the material so that the Z direction's dimension becomes equal to the product's dimension.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PERFORM DISSIMILAR OPERATIONS IN A SINGLE MACHINE
A spatially coherent machine for manufacturing comprises, in one example, a workpiece holder configured to secure a workpiece, a toolholder with at least one axis of motion control configured to perform a subtractive machining operation on the workpiece using a machining tool, a heating element configured to perform a heating operation on the workpiece, and a forming element configured to perform a forming operation in which force is applied to the workpiece in an amount that causes plastic deformation of the workpiece material. The workpiece holder secures the workpiece during the heating, forming, and subtractive operations such that the forming and subtractive operations are performed in a spatially coherent manner.
SIZING DIE FOR DENSIFYING SURFACE OF SINTERED BODY, PRODUCTION METHOD USING SAME, AND PRODUCT OBTAINED THEREFROM
In a die for compressing and sizing a sintered body at straight portions, upper taper portions are provided on a die upper portion and a core rod upper portion, and the straight portions are provided at a die lower portion and a core rod lower portion. The die upper portion and the core rod upper portion have Young's moduluses higher than the die lower portion and the core rod lower portion. The die upper portion and the core rod upper portion are made of materials having Young's moduluses that are at least 50 GPa higher than that of the sintered body. The sintered body can be densified with a smaller ironing margin. Since the sintered body is ironed without being compressed, by the upper taper portions and the core rod upper portion having high Young's moduluses, the die is prevented from breaking and being abraded due to ironing.
Aluminum alloy wheel and method for manufacturing the same
An aluminum alloy wheel for a vehicle is provided, which includes: a wheel central portion, a rim portion, and a plurality of radial elements, wherein the aluminum alloy wheel is processed by centrifugal casting and forging to form a central portion with a morphology exhibiting a grain size variation with decreasing gradient in a lateral direction from an inner side of the wheel central portion to an outer side thereof.
Wrought Root Blade Manufacture Methods
A method for manufacturing a blade, the method includes casting a nickel alloy blade precursor having an airfoil and a root. The airfoil and the root are solution heat treating differently from each other. After the solution heat treating, the root is wrought processed. After the wrought processing, an exterior of the root is machined.
LIGHT WEIGHT HOUSING FOR INTERNAL COMPONENT AND METHOD OF MAKING
A method of making a light weight component is provided. The method including the steps of: forming a metallic foam core into a desired configuration; inserting a pre-machined component into an opening in the metallic foam core; applying an external metallic shell to an exterior surface of the metallic foam core after it has been formed into the desired configuration and after the pre-machined component has been inserted into the metallic foam core; introducing an acid into an internal cavity defined by the external metallic shell; dissolving the metallic foam core; and removing the dissolved metallic foam core from the internal cavity, wherein the component and the external metallic shell are resistant to the acid.
Center hole forming method and forging device
In a center hole forming method, an object to be processed is inserted in a die hole and a shaft is drawn from the object. A load toward a first axial end surface of the object is applied to a second axial end surface of the object without taking out the object from the die hole. A diameter of the first axial end surface is smaller than a diameter of the second axial end surface. A center hole is formed in the first axial end surface by pressing a counter punch against the first axial end surface in a state that the load is applied to the second axial end surface.
ALUMINUM-SILICON CARBIDE COMPOSITE AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR
An aluminum-silicon carbide composite including flat-plate-shaped composited portion containing silicon carbide and an aluminum alloy, and aluminum layers containing an aluminum alloy provided on both plate surfaces of composited portion, wherein circuit board is mounted on one plate surface and the other plate surface is used as heat-dissipating surface, wherein: the heat-dissipating-surface-side plate surface of the composited portion has a convex curved shape; the heat-dissipating-surface-side aluminum layer has a convex curved shape; ratio (Ax/B) between the average (Ax) of the thicknesses at the centers on opposing short sides of outer peripheral surfaces and thickness (B) at central portions of the plate surfaces satisfies the relationship: 0.91≦Ax/B≦1.00; and a ratio (Ay/B) between the average (Ay) of the thicknesses at the centers on opposing long sides of outer peripheral surfaces and thickness (B) at central portions of the plate surfaces satisfies the relationship: 0.94≦Ay/B≦1.00 and production method therefor.
Clipping tool
The present disclosure provides a clipping tool for clipping flash from a component e.g. a gas turbine aerofoil body. The clipping tool includes a riser having a support surface for supporting the component and a punch for gripping the component on the support surface such that the flash projects laterally from the riser and the punch. The clipping tool further comprises a tool body having a clipping aperture opening to a channel within the tool body. The channel is defined by a channel wall. The riser and the punch are translatable to shear the projecting flash from the gripped component. At least a portion of the channel wall within the tool body comprises a broaching surface having at least one projection, said projection reducing the cross sectional area of the channel to less than that of the clipping aperture.
MACHINE COMPONENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A sprocket wheel, which is a machine component configured to slide relative to a bushing while being in contact with the bushing in an outer peripheral surface, includes a base made of a first metal, and an overlay that covers the base so as to constitute the outer peripheral surface. The surface of the overlay constituting the outer peripheral surface has been smoothed. Such a smoothed surface of the overlay makes the sprocket wheel less damaging to the bushing.
